~~ Niran ~~
"Yeah I know Ink. I am wearing emerald green." God this girl.
[I want everything to be perfect today. We are matching too.] She exclaimed from the other side.
"Yeah." I brushed away the aggravation and replied as calmly as I can. All I am focusing right now is the news on TV which is about the huge merger between Pawat and Suwan families. We are business partners but today will seal the deal on this partnership so that Suwan's can never back down on us.
They are powerful. If they would have got together with ONP, then we would have been doomed.
Since university, dad had asked me to make sure that Ink is wooed by me. But at times it's tiring. Especially when I am not into this relationship stuff.
And on top of that she is so boring. Always thinking about love, family and emotional shit. I would rather hangout with friends and play pool.
[Niran? Are you listening?] She asked from the other side when I got distracted.
"Yes babe. I am listening. You are ready right? Then come soon please. I am dying to see you." This will do the trick.
[Aww... Don't make me shy. Ok, I am disconnecting now. See you in an hour for our engagement.] Yes, I knew it. She is so easy to please.
"See you love." I said as sweetly as I could.
Today nothing should go wrong. Dad and I had planned this engagement to happen last time along with the announcement itself. But somehow Mr. Suwan wasn't ready.
It took us a week to convince him. Honestly I even had planned to get Ink pregnant if needed.
But am glad it didn't go that far. Last thing I can think about is having a baby.
"Niran?" Mom walked in with a huge smile.
"Hey mom." I greeted her with a smile.
"Gosh! You look stunning today." She hugged me.
"Isn't that obvious Mom?" I asked with a smirk hugging her back.
"All set to be engaged to your love?" She asked excitedly.
I almost rolled my eyes but managed to smile at her. "Yup... Can't wait to see her."
"Ah! Young love!" She exclaimed keeping my other stuff back in my cupboard. "Oh by the way. Did you bring the dress I asked you to?" she asked.
"Yeah, I asked the driver to fetch it. Do you want to give it to Ink?"
"No, it's for Aim. She was looking for a same kind of dress the last time I saw her in the boutique."
I paused and turned to look at mom. "Mom why do you even bother? Don't you know they hate you?"
Mom went silent for a moment. "They have all the reasons to. But I can't bring myself to hate them or even dislike them. They are my kids too."
"No, they are not. Those Pawats are the reason why we Pawats are not established." I snapped.
"And we are the reason why their family broke in the first place." Mom replied.
"Mom please." I threw away the vase from the side angrily. Mom flinched but stood straight looking at me sternly. "Not today ok? I know you have this soft corner and all. But don't ever expect them to love us. In fact, I am still worried. I am sure that Ohm will do something to ruin my happiness soon."
"Niran!" Mom snapped. "Don't you dare cross your..." But she abruptly stopped looking at something behind me.
I turned to see the television. The news about my engagement and the merger was nowhere to be seen. In fact, I was now seeing the face of the man I was talking about with another picture on the side of someone I have never seen before. And the news that was enough to create chaos and ruin my happiness for today.
