The next day was what Nat declared at one of the most important parts of Christmas.

Dress shopping.

Well, that seemed to be a whole nightmare in itself. Not only did it involve actually going out of the compound, where I felt the safest, but it also meant that I had to go see a complete stranger and have them measure me up and everything. I didn't complain to any of the girls about it, since I saw how excited about it they were. Instead, I stayed silent and pretended that I was happy to go along.

The place that we were going to didn't seem that far away, probably only five minutes in Pepper's car. When we stepped out, I was blown away by the fancy exterior, but the inside was even more fancy. Everything had gold trimming, and although it probably wasn't real, it still was pretty cool. There were plush fancy chairs, soft red velvet carpet and all of the people inside, both customers and shop assistants, were dressed in fancy suits and dresses that I probably could never dream of.

"This place looks really expensive." I couldn't help but whisper to Wanda as one of the shop keepers began to talk to Pepper.

"Tony probably has enough money to buy the whole place." Nat grinned down at me. "Trust me, we go to this place every year to get new dresses. I think Tony can afford it."

"Ladies." A voice spoke up and I looked over sharply to see the shop assistant walking over to us, Pepper standing just behind her. "It is so good to see you all again. And I'm always glad to have a new customer."

She gave me a friendly smile, but I couldn't help but smile timidly and shrink inwards slightly. The shop assistant either didn't notice, or decided to ignore it.

"Come, I'll show you to our fabrics." She continued to smile at us all. "We have recently upgraded our stocks, so we now have over one hundred different colours and materials."

She began to walk away and we followed her, Pepper in front while I trailed behind the others, still trying to take in the amazing interior and trying to comprehend how someone had so much money. We were led through a bunch of doors and I suddenly found myself in a massive room with the walls just completely covered by horizontal rolls of fabric. There was quite literally every single colour and fabric type possible, many of which I had never even seen before.

"Feel free to go through all of the materials." The shop keeper smiled cheerfully at us all and I wondered how her face wasn't sore form all of her smiling. "Choose whatever you like and I will have a dress fitter in with you in ten minutes."

She disappeared back out the door and as the others wandered away to look at the fabric, I continued to try and take it all it. Moving to the closest wall of fabric, I gently ran my fingers along the smooth material, a shiver running through my fingertips.

"Silk would look beautiful on you." A voice spoke up and I spun around to see Pepper standing next to me. "Especially a dark green."

"You think so?" I looked up at her as she pulled out a little bit of a dark green silk.

"Definitely." She nodded, pulling the roll out completely and letting me hold it. "Do you think so, or would you prefer another fabric?"

"No, I quite like this one." I nodded, brushing my fingers over the fabric again. I was happy to go with it if she thought it would look good on me, I need to look good, not like some weak, scarred experiment that I actually was.

"Now, what do you think I should go with?" Pepper asked. "I have a bad habit of overthinking everything and I don't want everyone to be waiting for me."

I completely froze at suddenly being overwhelmed with this task of picking Pepper's dress. From what I had learnt from Nat on the whole drive over here, I knew that this dress thing for all of them was a big deal and I did not want to mess it up at all. Now, she was getting me to pick the fabric for her dress?! It had to be beautiful and stunning, especially since she was the wife of the Tony Stark, and no doubt had to make a good impression on all of the guests attending the party. If I chose a bad fabric, she would be severely judged and it could end up plastered all over every single paper in New York and it would be a disaster and –
