We weren't famous.

After performing at the bar, Nylah used the videos to make some sort of edit and put it up on tiktok. Sure, we got a couple of clicks but silence, like I anticipated.

All in good fun.

Sadly I think my sister took it more serious than any of us and it made me feel bad. She never really had any big dreams other than becoming a famous drummer in a band. It was her whole identity through school and she simply couldn't let it go. I supported her one hundred percent but I also knew to be realistic.

"You're doing so well, Lia." I said, smiling at the seven year old who was gripping the reigns with strong concentration on her face as the horse trotted slowly. She was newer to town and instantly took a liking to the horses whenever she drove by. Though her family could afford it, I offered to give her lessons for free because of how sweet she was. I never took any form of cash payments as a courtesy to them being new to town.

As I rounded the pole, I looked across to see her mom standing on the other side of a fence dawning a wide grin. "I think I'm gettin' real good, miss Y/n." I chuckled as we slowly to a stop. "I can almost go by myself huh?"

"Maybe a few more lessons but.." she raised her arms as I reached to lift her from the horse with ease, then gently placing her to the ground. "I think you're well on your way little Lia." Crouching down, I raised my hand for her to give me a high five but at the last second, I booped her nose. She giggled before grabbing ahold of my hand when I lifted up to walk her to her mom.

"Mama did you see me?" Lia nearly shouted while diving through the fence to get to her mom. I calmly walked around it, making sure to close it behind me. "I was awesome today."

"You sure was." Her mom said, accent thick with a southern drawl that was a bit west of where we were. Her eyes then found mine as she brushed her daughters hair back. "Why don't you go get your coat while I pay Y/n." I clicked my tongue in disapproval as Lia ran off. "This is the third session, I'm paying."

"And like I said miss Caroline before, I can't let you pay." She eyed me with a sigh, shoving the few bills back into her coin purse. "It's my pleasure. Lia lights up my day every Saturday and that's more than enough payment."

With a hum, she looked over her shoulder as her daughter leaned against the fence with her jacket over her shoulder, mouth moving a mile a minute as she talked to the horses. "Well how about.." I inhaled when she reached over to grab ahold of my arm, her head tilting innocently but nothing was innocent about her eyes. "I have my sister take my daughter home and I help, I don't know, clean up a bit?"

Holy shit. Was this married woman asking me what I think she was? As if to answer my internal questioning, her hand slid from my arm to my side, then slowly inching toward my belt.

I just finished training her daughter and now she wanted to pay me in something that wasn't cash? How could I possibly respond to that?

"Sorry, we're closed!" I said, scrambling for the closed sign as I saw a couple customers walking up. "Come back in about an hour!" Yanking the gates closed, I ran to quickly feed my horses before running to the back gates again. The car was driving off, miss Caroline walking to me.

Okay, okay we're good. All is good. Just a very gorgeous, thirty something southern belle who wants to 'repay' me. No biggie, it's all good.

Swallowing thickly, she finally reached me and didn't hesitate to grab my arm again, now pulling me to my house. "I uh, my mom is out in the town shopping but she'll be back in about an hour or so."

Miss Caroline looked over her shoulder briefly, smirking. "Not a problem, hun."

Oh lord.

That was day one.
