Lisa pulled the cookies out of the oven, taking in the chocolate scent.
Little feet pattered on the ground, coming closer.
" mommy! I smell cookies!!" 5 yr. old April yelled, jumping up and down.
" Just the girl I wanted to see!" The mother said, smiling warmly at the child, whom was beaming brightly.
Lisa smiled. " will you go get daddy, for me?"
April grinned. " Of course, mommy!" She replied.
April's footsteps faded away as she ran to her father's study.
" Daddy? " she asked.
Jason twirled around in a big chair, petting their cat, Samuel, dramatically. " I've been expecting you!" He screamed.
April giggled. " mommy said to get you" she replied.
" Tell Mommy, I'll be right there!" He exclaimed.
" ok!" April yelled and ran out to her mother.
Her father pulled out the papers he had been looking at before his adopted daughter came in. He had, after 5 years, convinced his wife to let April find out on her own.
