Rose's POV

Crystal, Toothless and I were relaxing when we were disturbed when a fish was thrown into the cove. It hits the ground and slides. A moment later, the boy that was here yesterday peeks through a gap in the rock, looking around cautiously, clearly not seeing us. I look towards Crystal and Toothless but I can't find him. I look around and see him behind the boy on a rock. Toothless then sorts trying to alert the boy that hes behind him. The boy turns to see Toothless, crouched on a rock like a stealthy panther. He descends, approaching him... ready to pounce. I sit back and let this happen to see what happens. I see the boy swallow his fear and offers the fish in his hand. Doing so reveals the dagger at his waist. We all see it and get defensive about it. I walk up with Crystal in tow slightly behind Toothless but enough for the boy to see us. The boy reaches for it, making a growl eruped from Toothless and Crystal and a glare from me. He pauses, carefully lifts it by the handle, and tosses it away. We all calm slightly. As Toothless approaches the fish, the boy notices that he's missing teeth.

"Huh. Toothless. I could've sworn you had..." A set of razor sharp teeth emerge from his gums to grab the fish. Toothless snatches and gnashes it up, swallowing it. I guess you now know why I called him Toothless. "... teeth."

The teeth retract again. Toothless presses closer with an expectant look. The boy retreats nervously.

"Uh, no. No, I don't have any more." Toothless backs him against a rock, placing himself the same position as before. Toothless closes in over him, staring blankly. A tense moment passes... then Toothless regurgitates a chunk of fish onto the boys  lap. They exchange stares. The boy realizes what Toothless wants him to do.

"It's either you take a bite or he'll never be able to trust you fully. The fish is an offering as a thank you." I spoke to the boy for the first time makeing him look at me before his attention turns back to Toothless.

The boy crouches slowly and squeamishly picks it up as Toothless waits expectantly. The boy gags and gnaws off a
bite of the slimy fish. He forces a smile and Toothless mimics
him. Amazed, the boy sits up and tries to touch him. Toothless
hisses and flaps off to a crash on the other side of the cove, Crystal in tow. He blasts the mossy ground to a red-hot temperature... and curls up on it like a giant dog. I walk over to him and lie down next to him hoping the boy would go away. Toothless turns to find the boy seated beside him. Toothless tolerates his persistent presence... until the boy tries to touch his damaged tail. Toothless snaps at him. Hiccup takes the hint and leaves. Toothless moves away from the area making me fall to the ground banging my head.

"Hey" I shout to Toothless. He looks at me and gargles, dragon laughing at me as I rub my head.

Toothless wakes, hanging upside down from a tree with Crystal as I watch the boy draw something in the ground. He spots the boy sitting on the other side of the cove. Sketching in the sand. The boy draws with a stick, minding his own business when Toothless appears behind him, watching carefully. Aware of his presence, the boy continues, trying not to scare him off. Toothless walks off. A moment later, he reappears with an entire sapling, drawing lines in the sand. He rushes here and there, making haphazard lines in every direction. Finally, Toothless drops the tree and inspects his work. He seems pleased. I walk up to Crystal and we both watch as Toothless and the boy interact. The boy stands and takes in the sprawling scribble, amazed by it. He accidentally steps onto one of the lines, eliciting an instant growl from Toothless. He steps on it again. Toothless growls again and this makes me roll my eyes at how sensitive Toothless is. Finally realizing how sensitive he is, the boy steps carefully between each line, turning round and round until he unwittingly bumps into Toothless. Making Toothless snort. Once again, they're face to face. The boy slowly extends his hand. Toothless hesitates. The boy turns his head away and closes his eyes. I go a bit forward worried that Toothless is going to do something. To both mine and the boys amazement, Toothless bridges the gap and presses his muzzle against the boys  hand. In a flash, Toothless is gone and makes his way towards me and Crystal, leaving the boy astounded.
