*** Bradley's POV ***
Jordan had her second ultrasound this afternoon, and I was able to leave for a couple hours to go with her. With her pregnancy with Charlotte, I missed most everything during the second and last trimesters because of my accident. As long as I could help it, I didn't want to miss anything this time around.
"Baby looks like a little bean right now," She laughed as she looked down at the ultrasound photos in her hands after we got back into the Jeep. "What do you think it's going to be?"
"I sure as hell hope it is a boy," I said as I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it before driving off. "But as long as you and the baby are healthy, that's what I care about most."
She had looked over her shoulder back at Charlotte in her carseat who was chewing on her teething ring and babbling happily. She laughed when Jordan grabbed her foot.
"I think we need a little baby Bradley. Then we'd have one of each and would be done having children," She said as she looked up at me. "Unless we have a whole football team."
"We'll see what the future holds," I said as we pulled up to the house. "You need anything before I get back to base?"
"I don't think so," Jordan responded as we got out of the Jeep. I grabbed the diaper bag and picked up Charlotte and followed her into the house. "I think we'll be good here."
I set the diaper bag down inside on the kitchen table, and Charlotte immediately wiggled down out of my arms to go play with her toys. She started walking when she was around 10 months old and had been on the go ever since.
"Alright. I'm gonna head back now," I said as Jordan came towards me, and I wrapped her in my arms. "I love you."
"And I love youuu," She hummed against my lips, smiling when I squeezed her sides. "Have a good rest of your day."
We shared a few more kisses, and then I picked Charlotte up so that I could say goodbye to her. She waved bye to me and wriggled out of my arms again after I kissed her head. All she was interested in at her age was her toys.
When I got back to base, nobody was in the debriefing room except Maverick. They were all in the other room down the hall in a meeting with the admirals.
"Why aren't you down there?" I asked as I sat down next to him. "Aren't we supposed to be?"
"No," Mav said as he looked over at me. "We could be, but that meeting's just for the new recruits to give them the details of their mission. How are Jordan and the baby doing?"
"So far, they are perfectly healthy," I said as I pulled one of the pictures I had put in my pocket back at the house. "Too early to tell what the baby is yet. Jordan said it looks like a little bean."
Mav took the photo, holding it by the edges gently as he smiled down at it. "Are you hoping for a boy? You could teach him to be just like you."
"If it is a boy, I'm not sure Jordan would ever want him to fly. Or Charlotte," I laughed awkwardly, biting down my lip after realizing what I said. "But at this point, we are just hoping for a healthy pregnancy like she had with Charlotte."
Mav nodded and handed the photo back to me. "Whatever gender the baby turns out to be, they're going to be so loved, just like Charlotte is. You two have a great support system with all of us here," He smiled at me as he patted my shoulder. "Hey, there was something I wanted to ask you about the other night, but I didn't want to say anything in front of Jordan."
I folded the picture back up and placed it securely in my pocket. I wasn't sure how much time we had before the new recruits came back in from meeting with the admirals, but I assumed we still had lots of time left if he was getting comfortable in one of the chairs. I moved to sit down in front of him, resting one leg on top of the other. "What's up?"
