Almost 8 years later

Luna knew that she wasn't a regular dragon. Sure, she had four claws and a tail, but that might as well have made Luna a bear or a wolf. She had wings, but that could have made her a bird or bat. She had dragon qualities, but she couldn't help but think that there was something wrong with her. She was some kind of weird cross between an acidless and weatherless Weather Wing, a Water Sprayer that only had the snout of one, and a Starblast night Night Bringer. It was bad enough that the audition for her school was delayed by a year or so. Luckily for Luna though, she wasn't the only one. The war recently was getting more violent, so lots of other magets going to the school around the same time Luna was.

"Come on, just show me," said a Green Water Sprayer as she turned into a human.

Her name was Lake. She was tall with red hair. She wore a dress made from seashells and shoes made from seaweed. Lake was Luna's best friend. They had known each other since they were two years old, and Lake was born two months before the starblast night.

Luna and Lake were practicing their powers in Luna's sleeping cave because they would be taking the application test for the Wings of Peace Academy the next day. Luna was going to have problems with the dragon form part. She would have to keep her scales entirely black the whole time and she had to hope and pray that no one would notice her Water Sprayer snout or her Weather Wing ruff.

"Just show me what your dragon form looks like," Lake said.

Luna sighed and turned into a Night Bringer. Her white horns and her pitchfork tail curved majestically. Her strong black legs and wings and beautiful blue eyes made Luna seem intimidating and almost royal. The beautiful crown of star scales, the sign that she had powers, appeared on her forehead and looped around the rest of her head. The silver scales on Luna's wings glittered like diamonds. Lake described the Night Bringer maget as the most beautiful Night Bringer she ever saw.

"Did I make it right?" Luna asked.

Yes! Lake thought. You did it just perfectly.

Luna and Lake liked communicating through telepathy. Even though the Water Sprayer couldn't read minds, she practiced reading eyes.

"Can you put out the torches?" Luna asked. "I want to practice lighting up my scales."

Lake turned into a Water Sprayer. Her green scales gleamed like she had just dived into the ocean and her wings were embedded with pearls. She held out her talons and produced several balls of water. They flew all around the room and splashed the torches. Soon, it was completely dark. Luna closed her eyes and concentrated. Soon, an eerie glow filled the cave. Luna's light-up scales were blue instead of purple. Lake thought that this was because she was part Water Sprayer.

"Awesome," Lake said. "Now you should try delivering a prophecy."

Luna closed her eyes and concentrated hard. Suddenly, a light flashed in front of her eyes and she saw a picture. There was a black dragon. Luna. She was standing in the middle of a huge crowd. Almost everyone in Magic was there. No, wait. She was in front of the crowd. Animus was there. And so was Meriam. Wait, no they weren't. That mermaid was a boy. The unicorn was younger than he should be. And why were a phoenix, two griffins, and a fairy onstage with them?

The unicorn in the form of a human stepped forward to address the crowd. Who was it? A general? Or a prince?! He spoke in a loud, clear voice.

"Citizens of Magic!" he said. "Your new ruler..."

Luna jumped. New ruler?!?!?! Was there a possible future where Luna stopped the war?

"...of Magic!"
