Seven Hours Earlier....

Danny and Steve sit next to one another in nice comfortable lounge chairs and a dimly lit room. Both men dressed up rather nicely they usual. An older woman sits across the room from them, a pen and notepad in her hand lap, legs crossed over one another. She was beginning to think there was no hope for the two men infront of her.

"So, uh, we have, uh, been together for, um, three years." Danny points in the direction of Steve.

"Four."

"See, this is, uh, specifically what I am talking about." Danny sighs placing both hands on the leather upholstery of the chair, he shakes his head, wetting his lips for the fourth time since they arrived. It was going to be a long day and this woman didn't quite understand what she was getting herself into.

"I'm just correcting you."

Danny looks to his partner and sighs, "Okay. Uh, four years."

"It was three years, 11 months, two days-- exactly."

"You done?" Danny asks as the men look to Carlin.

"Detattive Williams asked you a question."

Steve furrows his brows jutting out his chin. "When?"

"He asked if you were going to allow him to finish his thought."

Steve grabs both arms of his chair. "I'm-I'm.. Whose side a. you on?"

"I don't take sides, Commander. I'm an objective observer. As you know, the governor asked me to oversee the annual psychological audit of personnel, and I was concerned by what Detective Williams had to say."

"Thank you." Danny nods as Steve makes another dumbfounded face, naturally, things weren't going his way and he didn't like it.

"Okay. Yeah, fine. So, we, uh, we don't... we don't agree on a few things, but I don't see why that's such a big deal."
