We headed outside. It was dark out and the New York streets were empty, it felt weird.
"They could be anywhere," I said.
"I know," Newt replied.I could smell something weird, it made me feel a bit dazy. I looked all over the place and noticed that gas was leaking from a car engine.
Then I noticed small gold pieces laying on the pavement. I followed Newt as he followed the pieces. I noticed from the corner of my eye, something moving from the antique shop.
Newt and I stopped and looked through the window. There was Teddy holding a silver necklace. He dropped the necklace as he saw us.
We both glared at him. He grabbed the necklace and ran for it.
"Finestra," Newt muttered and the glass shattered.I silently cursed at him. I really hoped we weren't going to get caught. Jacob ran to us and stood there in shock.
"I know," I sighed.
Newt was searching through the drawers as Jacob and I looked around hoping that there weren't any muggles wandering around at this time.I could see that he was struggling.
"Ugh, I'm going in," I muttered.
Teddy was running around and jumped onto the chandelier.Newt also jumped onto the chandelier in an attempt to capture the niffler. I bit my lip as I watched the scene unfold.
The chandelier then dropped. I cringed as then Newt started to climb through the glass cases.
I then watched as the other glass window started to shatter. I could also see Jacob closing Newt's suitcase that was about to open.
As if on cue, as Jacob closed the case, the window shattered.
Teddy started to run away but then I shouted, "Accio!"
He started to float towards us as the jewellery in his pockets flew too. Then he smashed himself against the window.
"You could've done that ages ago," I said.
"Alright, happy?" Newt told the niffler, "One down, two to go."Suddenly, the muggle police arrived. I sighed. Of course something else had to go wrong.
Jacob held his hands up and so did I, it was the correct thing to do. However, I noticed that there was jewellery all over us which did not look very good.
"They went that way, officer," Jacob said.
I rolled my eyes in response. The officers filled up their guns."Hands up!" one shouted, right as a glass window shattered.
Honestly, what was up with those windows?"What the hell is that?" another one asked when he spotted the niffler.
"Umm, lion," Jacob said shakily.I watched as a lion began to walk towards us. I instantly knew where the erumpent was.
"You know, New York is considerably more interesting than I expected," Newt said."Let's go," I whispered and we apparated.
