You're currently on another date night with Stephen, just rewatching a show that the both of you had completed recently, even though you had a lot of other stuff to watch, you both just decided to rewatch this old show for fun.

"To be honest, looking back at it now.. It would be pretty obvious that he would be the one that caused her death.. I can understand why they made her stab herself, since she is the killer after all." You stated, as you laid down on your side, just going through Stephen's legs once again as he laid-- Or floated, on the armrest of the couch.

"You're right! It would be too obvious.. But I can understand why he said he was the killer and everything.." Stephen replied, hearing let out a soft sigh as your attention stayed on the TV.

"It's pretty sad though.. His backstory and everything, you know? And that guy was his best friend too.."

"(Y/n)."

"Yes?"

"Turn on the lights."

"Huh?"

"Turn on the lights. Now."

"Okay, okay. I got it." You responded as you got up hastily, making your way over to the light switch and flipping it on.

"What's wrong?" You asked, going back to him and sitting down, seeing him change his position.

He immediately pulled you into a hug, tightly grasping onto you as you just wondered what was wrong..

"Stephen? What's wrong?" You asked again, hugging him back as you tried looking at his face to see an answer, but it was like he didn't want you to see his face at all.

"I'm sorry.."

"For what? You didn't do anything wrong.."

"No, no... Look at my body, (Y/n)." Once he told you, you felt his grasp around you loosen up, before he began to hold onto your hands tightly.

You did as he told you to do.

And that's when you saw it.

Stephen was slowly fading away.

"What.. What does this mean?? I don't.. No, this has to be some sort of joke.." You muttered, your breathing beginning to become heavy as you looked up at Stephen, searching for an answer.

"Stephen.. Please.. What's going on??"

"Remember how I told you how I was able to touch things for a certain amount of time? For a whole thirty seconds, remember that? And now how it's a whole five minutes?"

"Yes.. But what does that have to do with you fading??" Your rushed tone as you held onto his hands tighter, not wanting to know what's going to happen if he fades completely.

"Well, that means the time I have left as a ghost will lessen as well. It's the same as being a human, the things you do that'll effect your health and body will lessen the years you have in the future.." He explained to you, his voice beginning to become shaky as a visible blur was filling up your vision.

It was just like your nightmare, except, it came true, at the wrong time.

"No.. No. You can't leave me.. Not like this! You promised you'll always stay with me!" You exclaimed, droplets beginning to fall from your face and onto your lap.

"I know I did.. But I'm afraid that the time I had left didn't allow me to keep that promise..."

"Stephen.. Please.. I need you, you can't leave me without even an explanation! Why.. Why are you telling me this now?? Why not before?"

"You're just going to leave me without saying a single goodbye..? But.. It hurts if you say goodbye, and it hurts more if you leave without saying goodbye.."

"I didn't want you to worry about me leaving soon. Like I said, your comfort is something I'll exchange for my own pain."

"This isn't comfort.. My heart is aching, Stephen.. I can't handle this at all. You know this, too! I can't handle the thought of you leaving me-- You remember the nightmare I had! You.. You can't leave.. I need you.." You were at your limit, hitting Stephen's chest lightly as you embraced him in your arms. His lower body beginning to fade a little faster.

"I'm sorry, (Y/n). Everything will be alright.."

"No.. It won't! Not when you're leaving me so suddenly!"

"I promise, (Y/n)."

"Promise.. You always promised me from the beginning! Why.. Why now?" You sobbed, feeling his arms grip onto you tightly.

"I'm sorry.. I'm so sorry, (Y/n)." His breath panting heavily as you heard him sniffle, holding onto you tighter.

With each second that passed, you felt your hands beginning to loosen up around the figure you were supposed to be holding onto.

He's fading away faster.

"Stephen.. Wait.. I love you." You spoke out, backing away a little so that you were able to see his face just once more.

"I love you too.. I love you deeply, (Y/n)."

He told you as he placed both of his fading hands on the sides of your face, feeling your tears just gently getting wiped away with his fading hands as he planted a kiss on your forehead.

You tried holding onto his hands with yours, only for them to just go past his fading hands..

"We'll meet again some other day, I promise."

He added on, glowing tears dripping down his cheeks as he gave you a smile.

"Stephen.. No. Don't leave me.." You begged, trying to hold onto him, but his fading body didn't allow you to.

"You'll still, and always, be my lover girl, (Y/n)."

"I love you, (Y/n)."

His face fading away in an instant as you lunged yourself towards him, your arms trying to embrace him in your arms once more.. Only for you to land back onto the couch, your hands hitting the armrest as you hastily turned around, seeing nothing but an empty space.

"No.. NO! STEPHEN!"

You sobbed on the spot, tears flowing down your face as you laid on the couch, in the same spot that Stephen was before he left you here, all alone once again.

"You promised.. You promised!" You said between your shaky breaths that were mixed with sobs, sitting up and continuously looking around the living room.

"Where are you?? Stephen, come back!"

"I miss you.. So much.. Come back, please!"

"Please.. Stephen.. Come back to me.. I love you.."

No matter how much you begged, cried, screamed.. He still isn't coming back to you.

He'll never come back to you.

End.
