Bestfriend

I had a bestfriend.
We knew each other since 1st grade.
After college,we rarely meet each other since we're living quite far from each other.
One day his mother called me.
She said my bestfriend got into an accident and has been sent to the ICU.
I took care of him for a few days.

One day when I was getting ready to go to the hospital,his mother called me saying he's awake.
I rushed to him without even thinking about anything.
But when I got into his ward,he wasn't there.
I called his mother and his mother said he was moved to the 7th floor.
I used the elevator to get there.
It took me some time but when I got to the 7th floor.
I realised that it's where all of the morgues are.

Right after I got out of the elevator, my phone rang.
My friend was calling.
I took the call and everything that I could hear was.

"You're late....I'm dead"
Right after I heard his voice.
I remembered.
The day before.
His mother told me he's not going to survive.
So...
Who was that?
