Maddox POV

“Miles!” I shouted, annoyed that I had to wait for him again.

What the fuck was he doing?

“Calm the fuck down, Max.” Milo said as he started coming down the stairs. “I’m coming.”

I rolled my eyes and grabbed my car keys.

“What the fuck are you doing every morning?” I asked him.

“Perfection takes time, Maddox.” Milo said as he walked past me to our garage. “Are you driving?”

“Yes.” I said, rolling my eyes at my brother.

He was my twin, but I sometimes wanted to send him flying to the moon.

I unlocked our car, and we sat inside. Milo took his phone out of his pocket, connected it to my car, and put on some music.

“Where are mom and dad?” Milo asked me.

I glanced at him and raised my eyebrow.

“Do you really care?” I snorted.

Our parents were never around. Both of them were hotshot lawyers who worked day and night. I wasn’t really sure why they had us in the first place. It was very obvious that they didn’t want children. The only thing they used us for were pictures. My parents loved to present themselves as perfect. Perfect parents, perfect jobs, perfect sons, perfect life.

In reality, it was everything but that.

Milo and I were always alone. When we were kids, we had a nanny, but my parents fired her as soon as we were old enough to take care of ourselves. Our parents were never around. Not even when Milo and I were about four years old and when we went through a really weird phase where we couldn’t be separated from each other.

I didn’t remember it well, but I did remember feeling empty and lost. I did remember holding onto Milo like he was my lifeline. Both Milo and I had a feeling like we lost something, and we didn’t want to lose each other as well.

We talked about it over the years, but neither Milo nor I could remember what the fuck was that about.

We did remember how badly we wanted our parents, but they weren’t there for us. They were never there for us.

“I only asked because I was thinking that we could throw a party if they would be gone for a while.” Milo said, grinning at me.

“They are in New York.” I said, chuckling. “They’ll be gone for a few weeks.”

“Nice.” Milo said. “I need to get drunk  and I really need some pussy.”

I sighed and rolled my eyes.

“I did not need to know that, Milo.” I said as I looked around, searching for a parking spot.

“Suck it up.” Milo said. “I watched you sucking faces with almost every bitch at the school. You can listen about my sex life for a change.”

I rolled my eyes and turned the engine off.

Milo and I left the car, and I immediately felt eyes on us.

It was a normal occurrence. My brother and I were hot. We were popular, and we liked to stir up trouble. Girls loved that.

I followed Miles into the school, winking at girls as I passed them by.

They were smiling at me and looking away, pretending to be shy.

I snorted internally.

Half of them will be begging me to fuck them soon.

“Math on a Monday morning should be illegal.” Milo said as he sat down at our desk in the back of the classroom.

“Where are Blake and Zack?” I asked him, looking around the classroom.

Blake and Zack were our best friends. The four of us got into a lot of trouble all of the time. I loved it. I lived for the excitement.

“Don’t know, don’t care.” Milo mumbled, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes.

My eyes fell on someone I hadn’t seen before. There was a new girl at school?

I looked her up and down, and I immediately knew that she would be bullied. Mostly by popular bitches, but also by guys. She was poor, and her clothes were old. I couldn’t see her face because her long hair was covering it, but if she wasn’t at least a little bit pretty, she would be eaten alive by the bitches in our school.

The classroom filled up, and Mrs. Wright, our math teacher, walked inside.

“Good morning, class.” she said. “We have a new student. Please introduce yourself, Miss Reed.”

The teacher didn’t waste any time, did she?

Everybody looked at the new girl. She stood up slowly and walked to the front of the classroom.

She was short and skinny. She was very small, and she didn’t look like she was our age. Was she even 17? Did she skip a grade?

“Hello.” she said softly and looked up. “My name is Madeline Reed, and I am 17 years old.”

I stopped breathing when I saw her face. Everything around me was a blur. The only thing I could feel was Milo’s hand grabbing mine.

Why the fuck was she so familiar to me? I felt like I knew her. I felt like I had seen her before. But where? Why was Milo holding onto my hand so tightly? Did he recognize her? Did we know her?

I looked at her a little bit better. The color of her eyes was the same as Milo’s and mine. The color of her hair was the same as Milo’s and mine. Why the fuck did she have our eyes and our hair color? Who the fuck was this girl?

We weren’t the only ones who noticed the similarities between us and the new girl. Our classmates started whispering and turning around to look at Milo and me.

I glared at them. Why the fuck were they looking at us? Were they trying to find a connection between us and the new girl?

Well, good luck trying. We could never be connected to someone as poor as this girl was.

She was no one. She meant nothing.
