I rest my arms on the banister of the balcony, my shirt folding at the sleeves as I do so. I glare at the man for a second. The way the moonlight shone off his face made me want to keep looking but I knew he would notice so I looked away. I turn to walk back into the restaurant when I felt his hand grab mine. His hand was masculine and smooth, a contrast to my thin, calloused hands. I look back at him. He was looking into my eyes, behind his eyes was a warm smile. He gripped my hand lightly in case I wanted to let go. But I didn't. Holding his hand brought joy to my small world. I walked back over to him and I stood next to him once more. This time a little closer. I looked up at the stars as the clock chimed midnight. The sound hung in the air. A few fireworks went off far in the distance. As they explode I feel his hands go to my waist. He stands behind me with his hand resting above my hips. His hand is a few inches away from the knife that I have concealed under my waistcoat.
