A Brief Thing About Erasure

(Expect unedited rambling here)

So for those who haven't played Memories, the erasure of a being means that the very concept of them is permanently wiped from existence and can't be brought back. Simple enough, right?

"But couldn't they just be recreated by a Creator who somehow remembers them? Seems a little contrived to say that they're just gone for good when there's literal reality-altering beings that could most likely reverse that in a snap" - A bunch of characters in-game probably, 20XX

Sure, they technically could if they somehow had the concept lingering in the back of their head, but that would basically be like trying to recreate a functioning being from memory. And we all know how recreating stuff from memory usually goes.

Even if they did memorize the being down to the T, nurture (or basically life experience + how the character grew up) plays a huge part in actually making a person, and there's gonna be a lot of quirks and other things missing from the supposed carbon copy because they literally just popped into existence.

So they wouldn't even be the same person at that point, just a cheap imitation.
And that means the original being is still gone for good.

Erasure is scary, guys.
