They've resented each other since forever, their only reason to do so being childish rivalry from middle school, that dislike only grew into hatred when Gigi started going out with Jay's best friend and hanging out with the gang in 9th grade. The couple didn't last much, but she did. She stayed close to the group, being one of them before she even got to think about it, and things with Nate ended friendly, so she had no worries, except him, of course.
The tables turned when a new girl moved in for the summer and Nate found interest in her, making Gigi green with jealousy, but she didn't have to wait much until she realized that a certain someone liked Leia as much, if not more than Nate.
They made a pact and decided that if it didn't work in two of the three months in the summer, they'd give up on the torture.
