It was windy

It was windy. He would have liked it. Daeneth never did like the sun. He much preferred dangerous and chilly winds. He still would not have liked the funeral though. It was in Kings Landing instead of Dragonstone where it ought to have been.

It was the same cliff they had Aemma's funeral. Daenys protested and said that they must have the funeral proceedings at Blackliff but she was overruled as she had only just had Daena and wasn't ready to travel yet.

Although her veil was sheer and you could see through it, she found comfort in it. Knowing that maybe to all of her emotions were on display.

Beside her stood Aenar and Viserys. Rhaenyra, Alicent and Otto were standing behind them along with Hobert Hightower, who insisted on being there as Daeneth was half-Hightower and always treated them as his own.

Beside them stood Rhaenys by herself as her children happened to find themselves with a cold back in the castle and Corlys and Daemon were out fighting in the Stepstones.

She was broken out of her trance when Daerion squeezed her hand. Many thought it inappropriate that she brought Daerion with her to such a sombre event but Daenys thought it would benefit him.

Better he deals with the loss now than later.

That was how she was raised.

As she looked down at her son, he gave her a small smile and squeezed her hand once more. She looked ahead to the three dragons of Blackliff.

Her own, Abraxes. Oh, how she loved that beast. Her mesmerising blue scales seemed to be a different shade every time you looked at them. Her neck was long and flexible, almost as long as Caraxes'. She chirped as Daenys glanced at her, trying to cheer her rider up.

The dragon next to Abraxes was Aenar's dragon, Valerio. Aenar had named him after Old Valyria. He was smaller than Meleys, yet larger than Syrax. Valerio had a short and sharp snout and was as gold as the Lannisters' jewels.

Then came Gaelithox. Daeneth's dragon. The largest in the realm, second only to his sister, Vhagar, due to him being born a few decades later. His blue and black scales reminded Daenys of stormy waves, usually found outside Blackliff. His ice-blue eyes, usually hypnotic to look at, seemed lifeless as he looked upon Daenys.

As a child, she was always scared of the dragon. His menacing teeth were a contributing factor to that. When Daeneth found out, he laughed heartily and took her on a flight with Gaelithox. Although nothing in the world could compare to her flying on Abraxes, it was the first time she ever rode a dragon.

The only dragon of Blackliff that wasn't there, was her father's mount, Aegarax.

Daenys was not surprised though. Aegarax had retreated within the Dragonmont after Daemion flung himself off his dragon into the Narrow Sea. It would be a miracle if anyone claimed him again.
