"hello, dear caller. thank you for contacting us. my name is katsuki and i will be accompanying you today. what can i help you with?" bakugou said, seemingly much better than yesterday's shift.
instead of using a voice that showed how uninterested he was, the ash blond tried his very best to make his tone calm and attentive enough for the clients to be able to trust him with their problems. he didn't want to lose his job on his second night.
the ash blond did his very best to be able to entertain his current client, giving them advice with the issue that had occurred, which bakugou rarely does but doesn't seem to mind even a single bit and once the other line ended the call, bakugou found himself smiling. "man, i'm good." he praised himself, a cocky smirk of victory now plastered on his lips.
having another client leaving him a good review can help both him and the company, after all. this way, the pay he receives will skyrocket, which will be enough for his expenses during his college years.
bakugou stood up from his seat and grabbed something to drink from the mini fridge that was settled inside his station. upon opening it, he thought carefully about what he's going to have until he finally decided on a can of soda. he also snatched the bento box that contains his homemade mapo tofu from his backpack before sitting back down on his swivel chair.
when he opened the bento box, the amazing aroma of the mapo tofu immediately filled his nostrils with delight. oh, how he loved spicy food. just the way it makes his tongue feel the heat of the meal drives bakugou to do better with whatever he is doing.
"itadakimasu." he said before taking the first bite of his midnight meal. unfortunately for him, his station was suddenly filled with a familiar set of ear-piercing ringing. startled, bakugou had no choice but to spit his food out and answer the call, silently cursing before he did.
"...hello, dear caller. thank you for contacting us. my name is katsuki and i will be accompanying you today. what can i help you with?" he spoke, trying extremely hard not to sound pissed. of all times, why did they have to call right when he just took a bite!? what a waste. he thought, eyes fixated on the piece of tofu that was now lying on the floor.
the client didn't respond for a while. bakugou was so close on ending it, but he fought the urge and patiently waited.
"uh, hi katsuki. it's l/n again." said the other line, which caused bakugou's eyes to widen, but he didn't let his attitude control him, regaining his composure in a split second.
with a sigh escaping his lips, bakugou replied. "well, hello there. found your lumpia yet?"
"...no, unfortunately." said l/n, disappointment written all over her voice to the point that the ash blond even started to envision it.
the agent rolled his eyes and crossed his arms against his chest. he really wanted to end the call right there and then, but that would mean trouble for him. the calls he gets are recorded by the higher ups of the company, hence his every move is monitored. he can't just end the call, it's a risk he didn't want to take. not at all.
"look here, woman, why don't you just drive to tokyo? you're just wasting your time sitting pretty in your house. the food won't come to you, idiot." he suggests.
"i can't, my parents are strict."
"sucks to be you, then."
"wow, okay then."
right after l/n's reply, a minute of silence took over their conversation. the only noise that can be heard from their call was the client's soft breathing, which tells that she had her microphone way too close to her mouth, but since it wasn't much of a nuisance, bakugou didn't mind.
"have you been on a good authentic filipino restaurant, katsuki?" l/n was the one who decided to break the deafening silence, curious, which caused bakugou to scoff.
the ash blond didn't reply instantly, but once he thought of the right words to say, he spoke. "'course i have. it was way back when i was still in high school. i didn't want to go, actually, but my friends wanted to tag me along, so i had no choice. fortunately for me, the food was great, so it really wasn't a waste of time."
on the other line, l/n hummed in amazement, only fueling her up to be able to try good food from another country. "must be nice. i wish i can try it again. i've been craving for a while." she said.
"just go to tokyo. you only live once."
"why don't you take me to one instead?"
bakugou wasn't sure if he heard that right. he had to recall the exact same words she said and as his mind registered what l/n just said, he went berserk.
"hah!? why would i do that!?" yelled bakugou, causing his client to burst into laughter.
"good night, katsuki!" and almost immediately, l/n ended the call.
in the end, bakugou was left fuming in rage as his face started to turn into a dark shade of red, maybe even redder than his mapo tofu.
