bakugou's station was quiet that night, one mere fact that got him contemplating if he should just call it a day and make his way back home. heck, even the loyal client that he guaranteed to be taking every chance to call him wasn't there to satisfy the ash blond's hungry-for-work attitude, and it's already been hours since he started his shift!

he thought that it was a weird occurrence for l/n to lose the opportunity to annoy him during work, but considering the day that they just had, bakugou decided to let her off the hook.

fortunately enough for him, the familiar set of ringing snapped him out of the faze that his thoughts put him into, immediately answering the call.

"hello, dear caller. thank you for contacting us. my name is katsuki and i will be accompanying you today. what can i help you with?" he started to greet the client with less fumbling with his words and a stable tone. thanks to saying that every time he receives a client in need, he finally memorized it word for word.

the other line was silent for a little while, however, which got bakugou thinking if this was another one of l/n's annoying shenanigans.

but instead of hearing from the familiar voice of the woman he was just with earlier today, he was instead greeted by the manly tone of his best friend. "man, i can never get used to you saying that calmly. is it because of the sake of the good customer service award or you completely changed?"

the call center agent groaned in response. "don't you have anything better to do than disturb me during my shift, shitty hair?" he said, rolling his eyes like as if it can be seen by the other line.

"is that a you treat a client, bakubro? i came here 'cause i have a problem, genius." for the first time in their years of friendship, bakugou took the hint of the utter seriousness that kirishima gave off with his words.

kirishima wasn't one to open up to anyone regarding his problems, something that bakugou hated. he was always found as the person who you can freely tell your problems to and will most definitely try to make you feel better, but now that he man himself is here to talk about his own problems for a change, the ash blond knew that it was a serious case.

"what's up?" bakugou tried extra hard not to sound worried. he failed miserably, however. after all, it was the first time that he heard from kirishima regarding something they rarely talk about.

kirishima hummed in response, seemingly in search of the right words to say to his best friend. it took him a few seconds of silence before he spoke once more. "so, i have this old friend, yeah? i met a new friend recently and that old friend of mine's try'na hog their time all for themselves."

upon hearing his redhead friend's troubled state, bakugou analyzed the situation. old friend, new friend, time, hang out. they were the words that the ash blond labeled as the key points in kirishima's situation, but also something all too familiar for himself.
