Sometimes some things are better off staying as secrets. For example when you accidentally caught your father cheating on your mother and your mother knew about it but decided to keep it secret from you, or when you find out that your mom gained full custody of you and you were going to move across the country to an unknown place. Yeah, I definitely took that well. Shortly I would be arriving in a small beach town on the coast of California with my sister, my mom, and me. I wasn't happy nor disappointed. I was just trying to convince myself that this was for the better. I was sort of excited to see the beach. I always loved the beach, it's just something about it that attracts me to it. Maybe it's the calmness of the waves or the way the waves crash unto the rocks. I just felt comfortable and relaxed. As we are approaching the entrance to our new hometown. I notice people on their bikes smiling, and conversing with one another. I also noticed the beach in the distance surprisingly the water looked pretty clear. I couldn't wait to go in the water. We approached our new neighborhood when suddenly a skater zoomed through us fast. Luckily mom braked in time
"Dios mio!" Ama(another word for mom in Spanish) gasped as I was still in shock
"Mom I told you to be careful!" Evelin said
"I know, pero no fue mi culpa"(I know but it wasn't my fault)
ama defended herself
Yes, we speak Spanish. Actually, both my parents are Mexican and they came to the US in their early twenties. My mom has her own business and my dad was a teacher. I love both of them so much. They're still my parent either way. I know that in my heart one day I will forgive my father for what he did to our family. But for now, I want to settle and get this over with.
"We are here niñas (girls)"

"Finally," Evelin said while stretching while she was getting out of the car
We went inside and I go to give it to ama. The house was beautiful. It wasn't too big not too small. It was perfect, everything the decor, colors layout I loved it.
"Ok niñas go unpack and shower then meet me in the backyard, si"

"ok," me and Evelin said
We got upstairs and started looking around
"I call dibs on this room!"Eveline said

"alright I guess I'll have this one"

eveline's room was a little bit smaller than mine but we still had enough space. I didn't care too much about that. Since back at the family house both of us used to share a room and it was HELL. I'll never share a room ever again. So im grateful

I unpacked and went downstairs to the backyard where mom was.
"Something smells good," I thought.
"Is mami cooking something"
"yeah I think so, it smells really good. Let's go"
"Niñas a comer(girls come to eat)"
"Wow, it looks so good!" I said
"yes"
"ok then dig in"

I missed my mom's cooking, but I did. Tonight she made some enchiladas with eggs and some rice. I loved this dish so much.

I finished eating and cleaning up.
We had school in the morning so
I got ready for bed, and I started thinking about how good today was for us. I was grateful to have my sister and mom, especially now.
Then I went to bed

I woke up without energy, I was nervous. I put on a comfortable outfit and grabbed my bookbag which feels light since I only have a notebook and a couple of pencils in there.
I went to the kitchen and saw my mom getting breakfast ready.
"here you go" she handed me a plate of French toast and some yogurt.
"gracias(Thank You)" I said
I finished and was ready to go
"bye ma," I said bye to my mom
"bye have a good day!"

"gracias!"
Then I went on my way to school my school was just a couple of minutes away from my house. I was about to walk across the sidewalk when I hear
"hey watch it on your right" I heard someone behind me say
I got stumbled but did what he said
And coincidently it was the dude from before. The same one that my mom almost hit earlier.
He smirked and then went on his way. He looked like a student. Maybe he went to my school?

I finally made it to school, now I just had to find my class. After a couple of minutes of roaming around the school, I finally found my classroom. I was nervous to enter, I held my breath and entered.

"ok guys so turn to page-"

The teacher stopped and looked at me
"oh yes, we have a new student guys, if you don't mind introduce yourself"
"uhm. Hi I'm Valorie and I just moved here from(state) and I'm going to be in your class"

"ok, you can sit next to Soobin over there" she points over to a boy with his head down on the table. Assuming he is sleeping
"Soobin raise your hand"
She calls
He sits up and raises his hand
I sat on the empty seat next to hm and the teacher continued with the lesson.
I looked next to them and see that he was paying attention to the lessons while the rest of the students are either on their phones or asleep. I was about to get my notebook out when the bell rang. I think it's lunchtime
Oh no, it's lunchtime. I hate this part since I have no one to sit with. I made my way to the cafeteria and got in line. I saw Soobin sitting with a couple of people. I got my find and searched for an open seat. I kept looking until I stopped right by two girls who seemed friendly.
I walked over to their table.
"hi can I sit here"
I said to them and they looked at me
"yeah go ahead"
"Thanks," I said
"so are you now?" the one with the red hoodie asked
"yes I am today was my first day"
I explained
"so how is it so far"
The blondie asked
"it's alright"
"that's a first, I mean this school has a bad reputation" she explained
"oh.."
"anyways where did you move here from?" the one with the red hoodie asked
"oh yeah we forgot to in introduce ourselves" the blondie said
"I'm layla and thats" she said while pointing at the red hoodie girl
"yuri" she said

"nice to meat you I'm Valorie hope we can be friends"
