Carina and Maya had been hospitalized on Saturday evening. On Wednesday evening the Italian was extubated and brought out of her artificial coma, from which she woke up on Thursday and on Saturday the surfer had a competition. However, her girlfriend could not go out until Sunday afternoon.

They had been able to sleep together on Thursday night and despite Carina's plans, nothing had happened. Once they had eaten, they both fell like flies, until the next morning; not even the nurses' coming and going had woken them from their sleep.

They were so tired that neither of them had moved, and fortunately, given the extent of Carina's injuries, she would not have had to take an extra blow.

On Friday, Maya stayed in the hospital all day with her girlfriend. However, in the evening their mother did not give in and she had to go home to sleep. The next day she had her surfing competition and even Carina had asked her to get some good rest.

As usual, a little before six o'clock she was on the beach. She had slept that night; well, would be a big word, but she had slept. Her restorative night had been the one spent with the Italian.

She had closed her eyes as the sun was rising and she had listened to the sound of the waves coming to die in a splash of foam on the beach.

'I'm in love with you Maya Bishop'

This sentence had come to mix with the sound of the swell.

She had opened her eyes, taped her leash to her ankle, stood up, rubbed her hands and buttocks to remove the sand, and grabbed her board before running into the water and jumping flat on her surfboard to catch some waves.

The Thursday morning anxiety had left her body. Carina was awake, she was hurt, but she was awake and safe.

She had passed under a first wave and had seen the smile on the Italian's face, when she had seen her go into the hospital room.

A second wave and she had seen the brunette with tears in her eyes, when she had told her that she was in love with her.

The third wave and she had heard her father: 'I love you kiddo', that last sentence he had said to her.

She went to the perfect place to launch herself and catch a wave.
After ten minutes she had seen a beautiful set arrive.

She flipped her surfboard over and started paddling with her hands, at the right moment she stood up and rode the wave.

She always said that if the first wave of the day was a success, all the others would be too.
She was confident about her competition.

She had spent her morning surfing and had seen the organizers and her competitors arrive.

An hour before the competition she knew she had to get out of the water. Jo and Taryn had come to encourage her as well as Mase and Andrea.

-"Carina wants me to film you while you go surfing so you have to be perfect! You have to win, for my sister."

- "I would win for her, trust me it will be for her."

Jack was there too, he had come to see Maya.

- "Hi there."

- "hi stranger"

- "Are you okay?" He asked embarrassed

- "I'm fine" she replied with a sigh of relief. "How about you?"

- "I'm fine" he said embarrassed

- "listen Jack, I, I wanted to thank you" replied Maya as she put her hand on his arm so that they would move away from the group.
"Thanks for Thursday, thanks for coming to warn me, you didn't have to... It wasn't fair of Mase to ask you to do that ... Thanks for bringing my stuff and my surf home."
