Enid's POV

I was incredibly impatient the whole car ride to the shelter and Wednesday seemed equally as excited-but only I could tell she was and she probably looked annoyed to everyone else.

As soon as we parked I grabbed her hand and ran in to the animal shelter, to be greeted by a middle aged woman behind a desk.

"Welcome in! Could I help either of you with anything today?" She seemed tired but happy with her job and leaned back in her rolling chair.

"My wife and I would like to adopt a dog and we don't have any criteria for what we're looking for. Just seeing what fits" Wednesday spoke for me.

The woman looked at us and smiled. "I take it you and your wife are looking for a pup that can take place of a child? Werewolves?"

I nodded excitedly and squeezed Wednesday's hand. "Just me, she's not a werewolf. How'd you know?" The woman flashed out some claws and retracted them back.

"I went through the same thing! Alright lemme take you to the back and you can take your time browsing. We have some wonderful dogs looking for loving parents like you two."

As soon as we reached the long hallway of dogs Wednesday winced at the sharp barks and cries of the sad babies. I let out a small howl, which I didn't think would actually do anything, and the barking stopped with only a few whimpers left behind.

"Thank you my love" she said and bent down to look at the first dog. An old scruffy white dog with its tongue poking out of its mouth.

"Whatever feels right for you, Enid, we will get, so don't ask me how I feel about them. Whoever you bond with I will love too."

I spent about 5 minutes with each dog making sure to really get a feel for them. There was one blue nose pit bull that was so cute and sweet, he tugged at my heart a bit. But one dog captivated me.

A dark sable German shepherd, slightly long hair, the brightest light amber eyes I've ever seen. He stood up and wagged his tail furiously trying to lick me between the cage openings.

"Weds..." I poked my fingers through the cage, regardless of the posters saying not to, and let him give me little love nibbles and licks.

She came beside me and smiled immediately, falling in love with him too. "It says he's a year and a half old and his favorite thing to do is play tug of war, his favorite snack is peanut butter, and he's an active dog that needs a lot of physical attention."

"Yes yes I'll do all of that and love him I promise Weds please this is the one I want" I said feeling connected to him immediately.

Wednesday went back to the woman and filled out the paperwork while I stayed with him and before I knew it we were back in the car with a whole new family member in the back seat.

He came with a temporary collar and leash and Wednesday happily walked him, or tried to because he was pulling hard, through our stone pathway and into the house.

"Look at him go!" She said excitedly as he ran around the living room and twisted in fast circles on the couch. He jumped on me and tackled me onto the floor to kiss me some more and Weds and I laughed with pure excitement and joy.

He was supposed to sleep in a crate at night but that night, and all the following, he slept right on the bed snuggled up against Wednesday's back while she held me.

We ended up naming him Bat but I called him Batman, and Wednesday called him Dingbat. We lived our lives training him and enjoying our little family but Wednesday talked more and more about wanting a real kid.

Wednesday's POV

I loved Bat but seeing Enid love him like he was a real child made me wonder what it would be like to have someone else in the family. It had been a few years since we had our dog and we were 25.

Eugene and Pugsley had been dating for a while, Bianca and Lena were engaged, and I just felt like everyone's life was moving forward and I craved something deeper.

"So guys, have you talked more about having a kid?" Lena asked one night during a family get together for Christmas. Enid's family, mine, and of course Bianca and Lena were over at our house.

Pugsley was showing Eugene all the tricks Bat knew and Eugene was on "bee duty" meaning Lena was allergic to bee stings so he had to keep as many away from the house as possible for the night.

"Well... yes we've talked about it" Enid said and smiled shyly. "Wednesday and I have been to clinics and have been in the process of all of this for a year. Morticia has been worried sick about our health and safety and.."

She looked at me and I gave her a nod. "We've been trying but haven't wanted to tell anyone in case something went wrong- Morticia and Gomez would lose their minds if something didn't go the way it was supposed to."

It was hard to see Enid get her hopes up about a pregnancy then find out her body didn't take it. We had our eggs mixed and everything but to no avail.

After dinner we all had a little circle gathering opening presents and talking amongst ourselves while Bat sniffed around at all the wrapping paper to see if there were any treats hidden anywhere like he didn't get a huge stocking full of them.

Enid handed me my last bag and kissed me on the cheek knowing I was getting social burnout from all the socializing. "Don't worry they'll be gone soon."

I took the tissue paper out and reached in, pulling out.. a pregnancy test?

"Enid.." I whispered and everyone stared in suspense. I jumped up and grabbed her, twirling her around while everyone cheered. "You're serious? You're pregnant?"

"YES!" She yelled and everyone whipped their phones out to record my ugly sobbing while Enid held me and cried too, and everyone ran to hug us in one big circle.

"How long has it been?" I finally got to ask. "I'm 3 months in and didn't want to say anything in case.. you know. But the first trimester is done and everything should be fine!!"

Bat had been spending more time with her but I didn't think anything of it because they were already so close. After many congratulations and my father breaking down and heaving at the door, everyone left and it was just Bianca and Lena with us.

"Ok so Lena and I might've already known" Bianca smirked. I gave her a gentle nudge and said "why did you get to know before me?" Enid just laughed as we all sat on the couch.

"Bianca I really can't thank you enough for everything you've done for us over the years. You've been there for us in more ways than anyone else and never complained about it" I said starting to get emotional again.

"Lena if you could've seen how heroic and motherly Bianca was to us you would've been all over her way earlier than you had been" Enid said jokingly. But it was true.

Lena held Bianca and rested her head on her shoulder. "I would do anything for both of you. You two have a love that defies any odds or misconceptions, and it is the most pure and gentle emotional bond I think anyone could ever see. I'm so happy to have been a part of your lives."

We all started to cry and I was left speechless just thinking about how in 6 months Enid and I would have our very own baby.

Shit, I better start working on making the guest room into our baby's room. What color would the paint be? Or what decorations? Child locks on everything?

"Hey Weds, I can tell you're stressing about our baby but don't worry we have some time to figure it out" Enid said and kissed my forehead.
