PETER'S:

I arrived home rather late and to my surprise mother was waiting for me.

I smiled and moved to hug her when she pulled away.

"You smell foul and your garments are in a terrible condition" she said.

"Go wash up we have something to discuss with you" she said and I nodded but frowned a little she seemed to be serious.

Going into my room, I quickly changed my clothes and took a bath making myself presentable, I headed to the dining hall.

When I arrived, Father was there also and they held a serious expression on their face which made me worry.

"Has someone passed on?" I asked when one of the servants began serving us.

"Nothing like that" my father clarified.

"Your father is ready to step down" my mother said and I choked on the food I was eating and began to cough. Bringing a kerchief to my face I wiped off before sipping from my glass and waving for my mother to sit back down as she was about to rush to me.

"Father" I turned to him.

"Yes Peter, I am not getting any younger and I believe this is a good time for me to retire" he said and I felt happy.

I could finally become the Duke and try to win over the queen whole finding a way to get rid of her bodyguard shadow.

"But there is one problem" my mother said and I turned to face her.

"You must be engaged before you assume the position" she said and my face fell.

Did they finally decide to threaten me into getting married?

I scoffed giving them a small smile.

"I have my eyes set on someone" I replied and watched as my mother's face lit up.

"Who is she, what family does she come from?" My mother quickly asked.

"The current queen of Foresham" I said and my father frowned.

"That is a bold decision, how do you hope to court the queen one that used to be a thief at that" my father said sipping from his glass.

"Courting her is not an issue and it would be easier for me if I had the title of duke" I replied and my father smiled a little.

"It seems that I have to hold onto the title until you are engaged to your queen" he said and I frowned at him.

"Father" I began.

"You shall only receive the title after you are engaged and that is all" he said standing up and beginning to leave the room.

"Mother" I called.

"I'm sorry son, I agree with your father" she said and I clenched my fists.

"Also send a message to Harry we would like him and his wife to join us for tea later in the day" she said and I gave her a small smile.

"Yes Mother" I replied and we continued with our food while Father's was left untouched and his seat empty.

By the time I was done with breakfast, I sent word to Harry.
