It's been 2 weeks since Zac and Fatima made it official. She invited Zac over for Sunday dinner at Madea's house.
Around 3:00 Fatima drives to Zac's place and then she rides with him to Madea's.
"Are you nervous?" Ask Fatima.
"A little. I mean if she is anything like your cousin, she might shoot me or break my fingers."
Fatima laughs. "They aren't that bad, crazy though."
"Should I bring flowers?"
"No, Zac. You're fine. Besides Madea doesn't like flowers."
10 minutes later they arrive at Madea's. They get out of the car and enters the house.
"Hellur? It's Fatima."
"Come on in." Says Madea.
Everyone is sitting in the living room waiting on the two of them.
"Hello. Hello. Hello everyone. This is my man Zac." Fatima says as she introduces Zac.
Ms. Hattie interrupts. "Oh that's your man? Ooh he fine."
Madea says, "Hush let her introduce him."
"This is Zac. Zac, this is my grandmother. You can call her Madea. This is Aunt Hattie, and you met my cousin Marilyn."
Zac goes over to hug all the ladies.
"Nice to meet you Zac. Dang you so strong." Says Ms. Hattie.
"Mama, stop flirting." Says Madam.
"Are ya'll hungry? Come on let's go eat." Says Madea. "I made smothered chicken, meat loaf, collard greens, Mac and cheese, cabbage, and potato salad."
"Oh one thing Madea gone do is cook a big Sunday dinner." Fatima whispers to Zac.
"Zac, are you on one of those health kicks?" asks Madea.
"Um not really." Zac answers.
"Well how you stay so buff?" Asks Ms. Hattie.
"I work out a lot. I don't really have a strict diet though."
"Well you better enjoy this food after I slaved in the kitchen." Madea jokes.
They all sit at the table, say grace, and start eating.
"So you the guy that helped my Tima find her house?" Asked Madea.
"Yes ma'am."
"It's real nice." Says Madea. So where are you from? You got any kids? Where are your family?
Zac answers. "I'm from New York. No kids. My parents are still married and still live in New York."
"So have you been to prison?" Asked Madam.
"I did 6 months. I used to run the streets and sell drugs in New York with my cousin. When he got killed I decided to get myself together. I've been on the straight and narrow for about 8 years now."
"Good! This is family right here and one thing we gone do is protect each other. We all know how to shoot a gun so don't try us." Explains Madam.
"What you trynna do, scare the boy?" Ms. Hattie asks.
"Enough can we finish eating?"
"Excuse me where is the restroom? Asks Zac.
"Down the hall on the left." Says Fatima. "Dang Mimi did you have to be so blunt?"
"Look I don't need another nigga hurting you. So if that's what I got to do to scare him straight then so be it." Says Madam.
"Let me go check on him, he might try to run out the back door." Fatima jokes. She gets up and goes towards the bathroom.
He leaves out the bathroom. "Hey Zac. You good? My family aren't running you off are they?"
"Naw it's good. I know they just trying to protect you. I like that. Y'all are 4 strong women."
They go back to the kitchen and sit.
"Alright Zac, I told them to leave you alone. You seem like good people. Now anything you want to know about Fatima?" Asks Madea.
"Oh yeah this should be good," Zac rubs his hands together and everyone laughs.
After 2 hours of laughing and joking and telling some of Fatima's childhood secrets, they get ready to leave.
"Thank you ladies for a wonderful evening. Thank you Madea for the lovely dinner. It was nice meeting all of you and I hope to see you again soon."
"Nice meeting you Zac. Y'all drive safe." Says Madea."Bye y'all. I love you." Says Fatima as they leave and go back home.
