The trio were walking through the wilderness, the sun shining down on them all as they followed the map, Y/N sometimes had to help Susan climb down a from a high ledge, Jane watched the pair and chuckled at them both, she smiled at how much Y/N seemed to care about this kid.
As Susan checked the map to see if Y/N was correct, she looked up and saw Y/N put his hat on her head, the hat still being too big for her, she looked adorable to Y/N and Jane.
"It's still too big." Susan said as Y/N chuckled, kneeling down and using his finger to tip the fringe of the hat upwards so Susan could see.
"Yeah, but it'll stop you from getting sunburned." Y/N said as Susan looked at him.
"What about you?"
"I'll be alright for a bit. Come on, let's keep going. I want that hat back though when the sun goes down." Y/N said as Susan smiled and nodded.
"Yes sir!" Susan said enthusiastically as she walked, the hat bobbing up and down on her head making Y/N and Jane chuckle.
"She's cute, I'll give you that." Jane said as Y/N smirked.
"Adorable." Y/N said as he watched Susan marching like an explorer off to discover new lands.
"So uh, how's she get on with your girlfriend?" Jane asked as Y/N chuckled.
"What girlfriend? I don't have one." Y/N said as he walked on ahead, joining Susan who looked up and smiled at him. "You doing okay kid?"
"Yes. So, you and Jane used to be what...together?"
"Something like that, it's a story for when you're older, a lot older." Y/N said as Susan went back to reading her map. She was silent for a few moments, knowing what she was doing, and knowing Y/N wouldn't be able to say no. "Alright, yes. Me and Jane used to date."
"Until...?" Susan said as Y/N sighed.
"It's complicated, the short version is words were said by both sides and she left me-"
"You left me!" Jane called out from a few feet behind him as Y/N sighed.
"No, you left me." Y/N said as they both grumbled. "Anyway, one of us walked out on the other, and it was over."
The trio walked for hours until they arrived at the small town that Susan had spotted through the binoculars, by now it was reaching sundown, and the three of them were tired and hungry. As they walked into the town Y/N looked around at everyone, the women and men looking heartbroken, all sobbing, some came swarming over to Susan who put her guard up but Y/N put his hand in front of her, gesturing for her to calm down while also making it known that whatever was going on he was protecting her.
"Look we don't want any trouble, our plane crashed we just want to find a way to contact help." Jane said as she saw Y/N's hand reaching close to the revolver on his hip.
"Stop!" An elderly man shouted as the villagers looked to him, they began speaking in their native tongue and pointing at Susan.
"What do they want with me?" Susan asked as Y/N looked around.
"I dunno. Stay close to me and Jane." Y/N said as he listened to the villagers talking, he was a bit rusty in Slovenian, but he caught bits of it.
"What are they saying?" Jane asked.
"She's talking about their children, and the young women. She says... excuse me? Did you say zavzeto?" Y/N asked the woman talking to the elderly man. She repeated it to him, he turned and looked at Jane and Susan. "Taken, they say their young women and children were taken."
"Taken?" Jane asked as Susan looked to Y/N who's face grew stern and determined.
Y/N spent five minutes talking with the apparent leader of the village before returning to Susan and Jane.
"He says he can give us shelter for the night and transport to Koper in the morning. I've agreed to give him half of the food from the crash site. Should feed these people for a week and we'll have enough to last us till Koper. Fair trade all around." Y/N said as Susan and Jane nodded. "We're in that little house over there, Susan why don't you go and get set up, past your bed time as it is."
Susan went to argue but Y/N looked at Y/N whose eyes told her there was no room for negotiation. As Susan left Y/N turned and added a few words on.
"If you need us, holler." Y/N said as Susan nodded before leaving, heading to the small house they were staying in.
Y/N and Jane stood looking at the villagers all talking to themselves and telling stories around a campfire.
"So, word around campus is you went on a secret mission back in '63, something to do with your mom. I'm guessing you two patched things up?"
"Yeah, sort of. We're taking it easy, mending things."
"Still not given up on finding your dad then." Jane asked.
"No."
"Good. You're a determined fucker, I'll give you that." Jane said as Y/N chuckled to himself/
"I'll take that as a compliment."
"So you should. Does the kid know?" Jane said as Y/N looked at her.
"Know what?"
"You know what." Jane said as Y/N's face grew serious.
"No. She doesn't." Y/N said sternly as Jane nodded. Y/N walked away to a small hill nearby. He opened his journal and began writing in it, documenting his current adventure so far. Sketching an image of Jane, and an image of Susan trying on his hat, making him chuckle slightly at the image of Susan wearing the hat which fell past her big chocolate brown eyes.
After around an hour of looking out at the stars and sketching the view into it he heard something behind him, it sounded like chains. Y/N turned and saw a young girl looking traumatized, chains around her ankles and wrists. She limped over to Y/N before falling into his arms, she looked malnourished and injured, she handed Y/N a small piece of paper with a drawing Y/N recognised. He took the paper and the girl began wheezing to him.
"The Scarlet Witch. The Scarlet Witch" Y/N heard a womans cry as she rushed to him, he handed the girl over to the woman as other villagers rushed to help the young girl. Y/N meanwhile was looking at the small drawing of who was supposedly the most powerful wielder of so called chaos magic...
