Midsummer

It was my first year when I could celebrate Midsummer like any other family. I didn't celebrate with my own family. That was why. I celebrated with Simon. Who also was my family now, I guessed. He and Erik would always be my family. I knew they loved me beyond who people thought I was. They did not see Prince Wilhelm. Or well ex-Prince by now. Simon saw me, his boyfriend. Erik saw me, his little brother. Currently we were on the football field where someone had put up a big Maypole filled with beautiful flowers. There were people everywhere. There were people playing instruments and singing traditional songs. The youngest children and their parents were dancing around the pole like frogs. I wondered what Linda thought of Sweden when she first came here. We were pretty peculiar here, I had to admit. Simon and Sara had grown up with it, so to them it was of course normal. The day before we had made midsummer wreaths out of flowers and both Simon and I wore them. Simon was very cute with flowers on his head.

"Stand still, okay darling?" Simon said. His big eyes were very concentrated on me.

"Why?" I asked.

"No reason. Just do as I say," Simon said. His fingers went through my hair and the midsummer wreath on my head. It was like he tried to find something in there. When he thought that he was finished with whatever he was doing he leaned in and kissed my lips. I had a feeling he wanted to distract me.

"What were you doing with my hair?" I asked. Our fingers intertwined with each other. He smiled big at me. He knew I was weak for that smile.

"You had a spider," he said calmly. He knew I hated them. I became tense. "I knew you would freak out, so I just took the little guy out of the flower wreath before you smashed him." His little giggle told me he thought I was overreacting. I could not help it though. Since I had been a small child, I had freaked out by the eight legged little creatures. I remembered once when we were at the zoo and the media people made me hold a big tarantula for a picture. Hell, I got anxious just thinking about it. That day I was sure I would die from the fear.

"You are sure there are no more spiders, right?" I asked him. He nodded.

"I promise you," he said. He then pulled me closer and kissed me again. I could feel people's eyes on us as we kissed, but I did not care. All I cared about was how good it felt having Simon's body against mine. He was dressed in a washed out blue t-shirt and jeans shorts. I was wearing a white button up shirt that made Simon call me "princey". It was expensive. Probably that one piece had cost as much as big parts of Simon's wardrobe combined. With that I wore light jeans shorts. I had bought those at the local H&M, as I had realised I did not have shorts. I only had long trousers with me. I felt his hands touch over my back as he kissed me aggressively. I had my own hands in his curls and down his neck.

"And here we have the love birds. I told you we would find Simon by looking for the tall blonde, Rosh," I heard Ayoub's sarcastic voice behind us. "And as always they have their tongues deep down each other's throats." Rosh laughed.

"Well be happy it is just their tongues, Ayoub," Rosh said. She held hands with a girl I did not recognize. The three of them were nicely summer dressed and Rosh and the other girl had flowers woven into their braids. Ayoub had a flower by his ear and I had great suspicions that Rosh had put it there.

"Babe, don't be gross," the other girl told Rosh. So they were dating then. Well they were obviously holding hands. We all grinned. I had my arm around Simon's waist, not wanting to end the physical contact between us. "I don't think we have had the pleasure to meet. I am Yasmina." She reached her hand out to me and I shook it. She was strong, I could tell by her grip.

"A pleasure to meet you. I am Wilhelm and," I said. She cut me off before I had finished the sentence.

"Simon's boyfriend obviously," Yasmina said with a grin.
