You could barely hear your brother's voice amongst the loud voices of the rest of the players singing "campeones, campeones", but still, you needed to facetime him and congratulate him on beating Madrid to win the Spanish Supercup. He had also scored a goal, as had his best friend Gavi, who spotted Pedri on the phone and knew who he was talking to immediately.
"Hi", he said to the phone.
"Go away! I'm talking to my sister".
"Hi!", you screamed. "Congrats on your goal. It was amazing".
"Thank you. Better than your brother's, right?"
"So much better".
You both laughed and Pedri didn't like the situation at all. He didn't care about jokes about goals, but he had noticed you two getting closer and closer. And not just as friends. Things were changing between you two.
"When will you be back?", your voice interrupted your brother's thoughts. "We could have a little party to celebrate the title. You're invited too, Pablo".
"Thanks. We'll be back in Barcelona tomorrow".
Pedri could only roll his eyes again. But once the call was over, he tried to forget his worries and concentrated on celebrating another title won against their biggest rivals.

"I don't see why you have to come to a family dinner".
"Pedri, come on. I've been to so many already. Besides, your sister invited me and I can't say no to her, can I?"
"I do it all the time. It's very easy".
"And that's why I'm her favourite. Because I'm nice to her, unlike you".
His best friend's laugh made your brother shake his head. Yeah, that wasn't why he was your favourite. He was sure of that.
"Can I see the medals?", you asked.
And when Pedri was going to explain to you they didn't have them there, Gavi took his out of his pocket and put it around your neck. Everyone could see the way you were beaming while he did that. The way both of you were beaming because of that small interaction. But only one person in the room didn't like that reaction.
"Can you not be so basic, sis?"
"What do you mean?"
"Do you have to be like all the other girls and be obsessed with him?"
The look you gave him told him you didn't appreciate his sarcasm.
"No, some actually find you handsome. Can you imagine?", you asked, mimicking feeling nauseous at the thought.
"You're so funny".
"I know!"
Despite your brother's protests, you still spent the whole evening hanging out with his teammate and friend. But what no one else in the room knew was that you two weren't going to remain friends for long. Not only did you talk every day, staying up until too late to message each other. But you were also planning when to have a proper date. Between Gavi's hectic schedule and the need to hide from your brother what you were up to, it was proving a bit more difficult than it should have.

"Dinner tonight at 9. Same restaurant as always. Who's coming?"
Frenkie was in the middle of the dressing room, phone in hand ready to annotate the names of those who were going to attend one of the random dinners they organised for team bonding.
