CHAPTER 2: FIRST DAY OF JUNIOR YEAR

RAYA'S POV

It was the first day of school at Redlands High School and at some ungodly hour, my mother came pounding on my door, saying, "Rae wake up or else you're going to be late for school". I groaned knowing very well she was right, so I hopped off my bed and got ready for the upcoming day.

At 7:10 I grabbed my toast, kissed my mom goodbye on the cheek and I drove to Starbucks in my yellow GR Supra that I got when I turned 16.

I needed my daily dose of caffeine; I had ordered a caramel Frappuccino, it was one of my favourite drinks.

As I walked down the hallway, I saw some familiar faces but the first one I noticed was Kai Waylon's, a senior I had a crush on since freshmen year.All my friends knew but he didn't and he was never supposed to ,we even gave him a code name that we were supposed to call him with instead of his real name.I walked to my locker hoping I would spot my girls anywhere near me,This year I had a different locker and I was hoping to design it better than last year's.I was so excited for this year because I had new teachers and I was a cheerleader so I went on trips with the football team and Kai was on the football team, sometimes I wonder what the real reason for me joining cheerleading was ,if it was because of Kai or just because I found it a fun sport. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulders and when I turned around all three of my best friends were standing there Vida Emberlynn, Mila Madison and Remi Kennedy.I was so glad they found me because I don't know how I was gonna survive any longer without them there .We all screamed at the sight of each other and hugged because not being able to see them for two weeks felt like 3 years
to me.

BELL RINGS

We headed to our different classes and since I had my Starbucks drink to drink this morning I felt mentally ready for my lessons. As I sat on a random empty seat a girl approached me, perfect hair , perfect face , perfect skin, she definitely looked like she fell straight from heaven itself but of course she had a stinking attitude, just because she was a spoilt brat she thought she was better than everyone else her name was Crystal Richards and she was also Kai Waylon's current girlfriend. I always wonder how she speaks to him or treats him because honestly he deserves better than her.

CRYSTAL CLEARING HER THROAT

I glanced over at her and she looked me dead in the eye and said
"You're in my seat"
"You don't own a seat" I said knowing I would never allow anyone especially her to treat me like I'm nothing
"Listen here you piece of shit I don't know what you're trying to prove here but I will not allow you to talk to me like that"
Just as I was about to reply her our Mathematics teacher Mr David interrupted us
"Ladies would please settle down and be quiet so that I can processed with my lesson "
Crystal looked at me once more and she seemed pissed but I didn't care I actually enjoyed seeing that look on her face it suited her bad attitude

AFTER SCHOOL
The girls and I were at the cheerleading tryouts helping the cheer captain ,teach the new cheerleaders all their positions and our cheer motto. The new cheerleaders were quick to learn and were cooperative, I was starting to think we'd be perfect at our next football game. After practice with the new cheerleaders we got our new cheer uniforms,the ones we had last year were to plain and didn't have all the school colors so we requested a new cheer uniform to be made and it was. It had all the school colors, perfect quality and texture and they came in pairs ,one had red and white and the other red black and white

This one was worn during games which our school participated in out of town.

This one was worn during home games.

The people in the cheerleading team and football team were always the last ones to leave school because of practice and it usually ended at 6pm.My friends and I walked outside to our cars and as we were walking someone held me by my hand to stop me from going any further, when I turned around I was looking at Kai Waylon,I stared at my friends waiting for confirmation to whether I was dreaming or this was a reality. They nodded their head in excitement and told me they where gonna wait for me by my car. I wanted to strangle them for leaving me there to face Kai all on my own.
Kai then broke the silence and said
"You dropped your driver's license Raya"
"How do you know my name"I said surprised
He chuckled softly
"It's on your driver's license and it's kinda hard to miss a beautiful face like yours"
The butterflies began flying inside my stomach pit as if they had no where else to be.
I smiled in Embarrassment and said
"Thank you, I don't know what I was gonna tell the police officer that was gonna pull me over"
"Yeah right, Well I have to get going Goodnight Raya,Oh and I'm Kai by the way"
"Goodnight Kai"I said smiling at the fact that I spoke to my crush for the first time but I didn't wanna get too excited because I knew he had a girlfriend and she was staring at me right now. She walked over to me and I knew exactly what she was gonna say.
"What were you doing with my boyfriend"she asked with so much confidence
"He was just returning my driver's license,I had lost it" I said calmly
"Your irresponsible actions are not an excuse for you to be around or with Kai,If I see you with him again I will make you regret it ".
I scoffed at her words and walked right past her because I knew being around her was a waste of time and I was giving her too much attention. After grabbing some dinner at a sea food restaurant downtown with my friends I went home to take a long shower then go to sleep,it was my first day of school so I didn't have to worry about any homeworks for the first week.
