Elizabeth Cady Stanton (1815–1902) was an American suffragist, social activist, abolitionist, and leading figure of the early women's rights movement. She co-authored the Declaration of Sentiments, which called for greater rights for women, at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848. She organized the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869 and helped pass the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that granted women the right to vote in 1920.
