"Kate...dear wake up lets talk." Thandi said as she slightly shook Kate from her nap. "Wake up dear, I have something to talk about."

"Geez, what is it mama? And why do you look like you were crying your lungs out??" Kate asked annoyingly.

"I need you to stop hanging around with that girl called Lucy, do we understand." She said with seriousness written all over her face.

"Hawu ma? Why? This isn't one of your lame jokes is it?? Please I am too tired for this" Kate said as she got more annoyed with her mother thinking she's playing.

"Kate listen here! I do not want to see you around that girl ever again do we understand!? I do not want to see you near her!!" Thandi yelled. And this time Kate could see how serious her mother was being about this. She never sees her mother angry, so seeing her this mad scared her and kind of made her curious as to why she wouldn't want her around Lucy anymore considering the fact that everything was just okay not long ago.

Thandi got up, left the room and shut the door so hard that the whole house vibrated. She went down stairs and began pacing up the living room, trying to figure out what she'll do about this situation. She does not know about Lucy being Walter's child, but she does know that Lucy is pregnant with Walter's child and her plan is to make sure that Walter never finds that out, or never finds her. She knows that the only reason that Walter married her was because Kate was on the way and now with Lucy having his other baby being on the way, she fears that he might leave her for Lucy. Plus she's young and beautiful, of course that's what Walter would settle for.
She was fuming and could literally kill anything right now.

Kate, who was upstairs, got off her bed and reached for her phone that was on her mirror stand. She scrolled and clicked Lucy's contact.

She texted "Lucy wtf gal?! What happened between you and my mom!?" And pressed sent. It was only one tick, meaning that Lucy was not online. Kate even got more curious. What could Lucy have done that could make Thandi that way? Surely it was something big and she knew her mother would not tell her now so somehow she had to go over to Lucy's and find out. She slid her feet into her pink slippers and headed down stairs. When she got there, she saw her mother cutting up some tomatoes and onions, but in an aggressive way.

"Mama...I am taking a walk..." she said trying to sound genuine.

"Mmmh" Thandi replied while keeping her eyes on what she was doing.

She walked out the door and closed it. Immediately when the door closed, Thandi ran to the window to see in which direction Kate was waking in and it was the direction to Lucy's house. Since Lucy only lived a few houses away, it was easy to see if Kate was going to enter their driveway. She got out the house and stood behind the car and there she saw it, Kate was walking into Lucy's driveway like she had expected. Her blood began boiling, she felt as if she was about to buy a grenade and blow up the whole place.
She was certain that tonight she was going to deal with Kate in such a way that she might even hate her after this.

"Knock knock!" Kate shouted as she softly banged her knuckles on Lucy's door.
Portia opened and jumped a bit at the site of Kate. Does Kate not know yet? She thought to herself.

"Oh I'm sorry, I just was not expecting you here.." Portia said nervously with a smile to try and cover it.

"It's okay mma, is Lucy around?" Kate asked.

"Umm...yeah...welll" Portia hesitated as she was not sure as to if it was a good thing to let Kate know that Lucy is around. She was scared that she might go report it back to her mother to make her aware, but even in Portia's eyes, Kate looked so clueless about the situation.

"She went out to buy bread, I don't know when she'll be back" She lied, hoping it will have Kate convinced since it was already to late to be buying bread this time.

"Okay no problem, just let her know to text me when she gets back. Bye bye." Kate said as she left.

Portia let out a heavy sigh of relief that one, it was not Thandi at the door and two, she could get Kate to leave with no trouble.

On the walk home, Kate saw her father pulling into the driveway, he was coming back from work. She ran to him and gave him a warm hug.

"Hey dad, I don't know what's up with mama, but she does not seem good at all." Kate said as she tightened her hug around her father's waist.

"What are you talking about? What happened?" Walter asked worriedly.

"She woke me up from my nap and said that I should never see Lucy ever again. I don't know why, she didn't tell me and I was too afraid to ask, because she looked angry." Kate said as unexpected tears began forming in her eyes.

Walter's heart skipped a beat at the thought that Thandi might have actually found out about him and Lucy. But he knows her and he knows that by now she would have already done something to her so the thought of that calmed him down a bit.

"Okay calm down, let's go in th house and see what's happening" Walter said as he pulled Kate with him into the house.

"Heyyy baby, you're home early!" Thandi said as she walked over to Walter and gave him a welcoming hug. She completely ignored Kate that was standing right next to them.

"You're in a good mood..." Walter said, feeling uneasy about her mood.

"Oh it's nothing, i just really missed you today...I cooked your favourite dinner...get undressed and let's eat." Thandi said with the biggest smile one her face.

Walter knew something was up. He got really worried, but he left to go upstairs to undress. Downstairs was just Kate and Thandi left.

Thandi glared at her daughter and smiled ear to ear.
"So tell me, how was it at Lucy's house?"

Kate froze. She knew something was up, but she didn't know that her mother knew about her going to Lucy's house.

"Ma...mama...i'm so.." Kate stuttered.

Thandi's smile widened and her eyes grew sinister.
"It's okay sweet dear, just be prepared, because God knows what I have planned up in my mind. You only have failed to follow that. If it wasn't for your father being here, I would've dragged you across this dinner table..."

Before she could finish, Walter interrupted them by coming down the stairs.

"Eat your food Kate, before they get cold" Thandi said while acting as normal as ever.

Kate was still in shock and tears began to reform at the tip of her eyes. How could her mother be so evil. What could have Lucy done that's so bad that could make Thandi act this way? Clearly it's something bad.

"Kate...are you okay?" Walter asked as he got concerned.

"Yes, I'm just gonna head off to bed early today....bye." She got up and quickly left the table. She got in her room and locked the door. She was scared.
