─── DELPHI JONAH was going to die. technically everyone was, but it just so happens that her life expectancy was far shorter than her peers, and she knew better than to rely on a martyr to come save her—not when rebels and martyrs got her into this mess in the first place, and certainly not when everyone looked at her like she was a lost cause already. when seventeen year old delphi stepped onto the stage and showed her face to the entirety of panem, she tried to make peace with the fact that nobody would be volunteering to take her place. instead, to atone for the perceived sins of her ancestors, she has one week to prepare for the looming fight to the death in the brutal 'hunger games', while charming the hearts of the capitol. she can only hope that by the end of the games, hers has not been ripped from her chest... metaphorically and literally.
─── FINNICK ODAIR had won his hunger games at the tender age of fourteen, leaving him with the title of youngest victor to date, riches that more than half of his district couldn't begin to fathom, and a life of trauma and servitude to those who treated him as less than human. since becoming a mentor, he's lost three tributes and has made one victor. it's an impressive achievement for a new victor—but it's not enough. when he meets the tributes for the 68th annual hunger games, he can see the laurels once more. his male tribute is painfully young, and his female tribute is... something. someone the capitol won't be able to get enough of, should she come out as victor. it sickens him, pains him, but, finnick already has his mind set; blame it on his soft spot for hopeless causes, or make the claim he wouldn't be able to stomach the loss of another two tributes. either way, he vows, district four will have a winner.

This work will be going into further elaboration of the heavy and potentially triggering topics included within the original Hunger Games series. Savior Complex will include themes of violence in all forms, abuse (emotional, verbal, manipulation, neglect, etc), psychological warfare and other fear mongering, human trafficking, ableism (not from any of our main characters), suggestive content, and more. I will also be taking creative liberties and including some crude and uncensored language.
NOTE: The tributes, arena, traps, etc shown in Savior Complex are all my original brain children and belong to me. Eventually, we will be meeting the canon timeline, but we'll be dragging our feet a little in order to allow growth of Delphi's own character and story line as a Victor.
(And yes, I should be focusing on the three fics I already have published. But TBOSAS made the Hunger Games brain come back hard, and I already have multiple chapters written, so this fic gets a pass.)
