So skeptical of love.

Enid and Wednesday had been best friends since they were young. They did everything together and knew each other inside and out. But as they got older, their feelings for each other started to change.

Enid began to realize that she was in love with Wednesday. She tried to ignore her feelings, telling herself that it was just a crush and that she was confused. But as time went on, Enid couldn't deny it any longer. She was in love with her best friend.

But Wednesday was different. She had never shown any signs of being attracted to girls, and Enid didn't want to ruin their friendship by confessing her feelings. She tried to keep her distance, but it was impossible. She loved Wednesday too much.

One day, Enid finally worked up the courage to tell Wednesday how she felt. She waited until they were alone in her bedroom, the silence between them heavy with tension.

"I have to tell you something," Enid said, her voice shaking. "I'm in love with you, Wednesday. I have been for a long time."

Wednesday's face twisted in confusion. "Enid, what are you talking about? We're just friends."

"I know," Enid replied, tears welling up in her eyes. "But I can't help the way I feel. I love you, Wednesday."

Wednesday looked away, her expression unreadable. "I don't know what to say, Enid. I care about you, but I don't think I feel the same way."

Enid's heart sank. She had feared this would happen, but hearing it out loud made it all the more real. "I understand," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

The next few weeks were awkward between them. Enid tried to act like everything was normal, but it was impossible. She couldn't be around Wednesday without feeling the pain of her unrequited love.

But as time went on, something strange started to happen. Wednesday began to act differently around Enid, softer and more affectionate. She started to touch Enid's arm when they spoke, or lean into her when they watched a movie.

Enid was confused. Was Wednesday starting to feel the same way? Or was she just being friendly?

One night, they were sitting on the couch together, watching a movie. Wednesday leaned in close, her hand resting on Enid's thigh. "Enid, I have to tell you something," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Enid's heart raced. Was this it? Was Wednesday finally going to confess her feelings?

"I think I might be falling in love with you, Enid," Wednesday said, her eyes meeting Enid's.

Enid felt like she was floating. She had never been so happy in her life. "I love you too, Wednesday," she whispered, before leaning in to kiss her.

From that moment on, their love was no longer skeptical. It was real and it was strong, and nothing could ever come between them.
