The Nightmare

(Faultless POV)

I was having a dream, mama and I were playing in a pretty field of flowers filled with different colors! Mama was currently chasing me since we were playing tag when something happened! Mama disappeared! Confused, I look around but can't find any sign of mama around. Maybe she's playing hide and seek? Choosing a random direction, I call out for mama while stumbling a few times.

I don't know how long I was searching for mama when I felt tears start going down my face and fear started to set in as I started to think mama abandoned me. Mama wouldn't leave me, right? "Ma? Come back...pwease? I'll be g-good! I pwomise!" I said while looking around, tears blocking my vision as I tried to find mama. "I don't wanna play hide a-and seek anymore, Mama!" I say in a wobbly tone, stumbling to the ground while now sobbing. Crying out for mama, I don't notice as my surroundings start to change, flowers wilting around me and the sky darkening.

"Why are you crying little one?" A deep but kind voice asked from behind me making me squeak in surprise while clumsily turning around. Standing behind me was a tall goopy skeleton with a cyan eye light, they were staring down at me making me feel small and I had the urge to hide in mama's hug but mama wasn't here. Once I thought about mama again I could feel more tears start to rise up and a choked sob trying to escape my mouth but before it could I was startled by a smooth tendril thing picking me up.

Looking up through my teary vision, I cling onto the goopy skeleton that was now in front of me while sobs escaped me. "Shh, don't cry. Everything will be fine little one." The goopy skeleton says while rocking me in their arms, reminding me of mama whenever she rocked me to sleep. Still clinging onto mr.goopy, I nuzzle into his chest while my sobs started to slowly but surely turn into little hiccups and sniffles.

When I finally felt calm enough, I looked up and couldn't help but look in awe at mr.goopy's eye light now that I was closer and didn't notice how mr.goopy looked at me in amusement but also slight affection as it seemed to remind him of something, something from the past...

(Nightmare POV)

I was currently holding this little baby bones that reminded me of the destroyer, in my arms and couldn't help but chuckle when the little one moved their attention from my face to grab my tendrils and started to nom on it in curiosity. Looking at the baby bones reminded me of dream and me when we were little- tch, what am I talking about? That was in the past...you can't change the past. Frowning from the thought, I don't notice the little baby bone moving closer to my face until I feel a soft pat on my cheek making me look down.

"You kay?" Eye light softening at the baby bones words, I can't help the tiny smile rising on my face. "I'm fine, my little terror." I respond while giving the little one a pat on the skull before freezing when I sense a positive someone's aura as they tried to enter into the little one's mind. Growling in annoyance, I block dream from entering while looking down at the baby bones. "What's your name little one?" I ask while doing my best to block off dream. "Fauttes!" The baby bone said happily while looking up at me. "Fauttes?...Do you mean faultless?" I ask while making sure to remember his name just in case we ever crossed paths again. "Yeh!" Faultless says while nodding at me.

"I see, well my name is nightmare. It's a pleasure to meet you faultless, I hope we will able to meet again some other time." I say as I watch faultless's expression change from happy to sad. "Leaving?" Faultless asked while staring at me with sad eye lights. "I'm afraid so, little one." I say, feeling slightly sad that I had to go now. "Come back soon?" Faultless asks while staring at me with a hopeful look in his eye lights. "Of course." I respond before staring in surprise when faultless raises his pinky bone in front of me. "Pinky pwomise?" Faultless asks before brightening up when I curl my pinky bone around his. "Pinky promise." I say with a serious tone before letting go.

Nuzzling into the crook of my neck, faultless purrs happily while smiling. Eye lights softening, I pat faultless's skull one more time before sighing when I sense that he was waking up. "It seems it's time for you to wake up now." I say softly while holding faultless who just mumbled something incoherent before snuggling closer to me. Closing my eye socket, I feel as faultless starts to disappear from my arms and sigh when I'm back in the dreamscape me and dream used to hang out in when we were little.

Feeling a positive aura enter the dreamscape, I could only silently groan in misery as I could already hear all the things dream's gonna say to me when he spots me.

(Meanwhile with Faultless-)

(Faultless POV)

I awoke to find myself in a warm and cozy embrace, looking up I feel relief and happiness erupt inside of me as I stare at the one who was holding me, it was mama! "Mama!" I say happily as I moved in their arms to nuzzle closer into their embrace and scent. "Aww, did you miss me my faultless?" Mama asks while adjusting her hold to bring me closer. "Mhm!" I say while clinging onto her, not letting go.

"Lapse! Tacos Are Almost Done!" Swap calls out from the kitchen. "I'll be there in a second!" Mama calls out while bringing me with her. As mama brought us into the kitchen I couldn't help but think of mr.nighty, I wonder when I'll see him again? I hope it's soon!
