Regulus' birthday was short and involved Finnick being thrice as excited for everything as Regulus and Romeo trying his best to make sure Regulus was okay.

"You didn't get him anything?" Circe asked Lyra.

"No, couldn't find anything." Lyra said surely.

The conversation didn't last long because Finnick pulled them into the centre of the room and started dancing with them. Rabastan and Cordelia were dancing too, but Romeo and Regulus sat on the beds watching a person each and resisting the urge to smile seeing them dance like nothing mattered.

"Regulus." Romeo said, breaking out of the trance. "I had been meaning to ask you something but I didn't think I should've. I'm too curious now to not ask. What's happening with you and Ly?"

"Nothing."

"Oh please. I saw you two that day."

"What day?"

"You know what I'm talking about. Don't act so sly." Rome smirked at him and Regulus let out a resigned sigh at which Rome got serious.

"I shouldn't have done that."

"What? Why? You would be so perfect together."

Regulus let out a dry and sarcastic laugh. "No, we wouldn't. That's the issue."

"What do you mean?"

"I have my reasons. She's a lot better off like this, believe me."

"I've seen the way you look at her. And here's something you don't know- I've seen the way she looks at you. I may not understand your reasons, but I know she doesn't either. And your reasons certainly haven't convinced you. Trust me mate, she's not very happy about it."

"Did she tell you anything?"

"No, but I'm more observant than you two give me credit for. I know things about you that you don't know about yourself."

"Like what?" Regulus scoffed.

"That was an exaggerated statement. But my point is that you need to consider her point of view too."

Regulus didn't know what to say but he smiled in hopes of conveying his gratitude. "Let's talk about you now."

"There's nothing to talk about me."

Regulus raised an eyebrow. "Oh, but I'm more observant than you give me credit for."

"Shut up."

"Tell me, who were you ogling at just now."

"I was not ogling. I was watching our friends dance. You were the one ogling."

"Alright Romeo, don't get all worked up."

"Shut up." Romeo said, turning away from Regulus with him cheeks red.

The conversation ended with Regulus laughing at him and shaking his head. The party died down almost immediately after since everyone could tell Regulus wasn't in a particularly good mood.

They gave him their gifts and the party ended. Regulus was the first to leave, Cordelia and Circe after him.

Lyra was talking to Romeo about their History of Magic project that they the professor had wanted in two weeks time. They had divided the work so that Lyra does the tracking and research and Romeo would do the writing and put the project together.

She left soon after and returned to her own room. On the bed, the little box with the necklace she had bought Regulus was there. She looked at it for a few minutes before she decided that she would give it.
