Deadly Grace

Prologue

Most people thought ballerinas had an easy job. They got to dance all day, travel, work with all sorts of different people, become known worldwide and other exciting things. I am a ballerina and yes I do get to do all of those things and more. It is certainly great but it isn't easy. It has its downside like any job. Gruelling exercise regimes, strict diets and constant practices. But while those things are hard, they are fairly easy to balance if you are dedicated and live a simple lifestyle. I am without a doubt dedicated to my career. I love to dance and I always have. I do not, however, have a simple lifestyle. Nothing about me is simple.

You see I'm a werewolf. Yes, we do exist. No, we do not hunt sparkly vampires. I can honestly say that I have never seen a vampire before in my entire life. If by some chance that they do exist (which I seriously doubt it) I am just as in the dark about their existence as humans are. As a werewolf, I have natural grace, stamina and agility hard-wired into my DNA, which makes being a ballerina much easier on my body.  But being a werewolf means I have a massive appetite, making any form of a diet practically impossible for me to follow.

Although most myths about werewolves are false, some actually are true. Werewolves do run on a higher temperature than humans, even if only by a few degrees. While werewolves do not need the full moon to shift into our wolfy counterpart, we are the most powerful during the full moon as we draw strength from it. And finally, we mate for life. It is this weird connection between two werewolves that ties them together and creates a bond to last their whole lives. It is the strongest connection we feel in our entire lives and is considered sacred.

This is a story about that kind of connection and how I turned my back on it. It's about my life, my mate and my past.
