"I don't think this is a good idea." I told my Alpha as he pulled me along the sand towards the Giant sleeping dragon who, upon hearing Aemond's voice, opened her eyes and moved her head to the side to see him.
"Of course it is, I know that it's difficult to understand but our dragons know us much better than people think. They see a fire breathing dragon and all they think is 'dangerous beast' and they're right, but to their rider and their riders loved ones they are typically very gentle. There's exceptions of course, Balerion hated his first riders family...hated everyone actually, except his riders Omega. It happens so few times now that Targaryens are Alphas but every one of them has had their Omega be worshipped by their dragon." I was surprised by this, mostly because of everything I had heard about dragons being loving only to their riders.
"I do not see a beast, but I do see a creature who I do not want to disturb lest she decide I would look better engulfed in flames my love." Aemond shook his head adamantly.
"I promise, you are safe. I would never do anything that could cause you harm and you know it." I did know it, which is why I continued moving as he approached the she-dragon who was now sitting up to greet him. Upon noticing him pulling me along Vhagars head swung towards us quicker, not being used to Aemond being accompanied I'm sure, he loves flying with her daily and never with company though he mentioned he took Helaena with him once many years ago. "Umbās Vhagar! Lykiri!" His voice was dominant and in any other situation I would have been the one listening to that voices every command but as he had only taught me a few words so far, I understood that he told her to wait and stay calm. She didn't look upset at all, just curious as she allowed Aemond to rest his hand on her face, pulling my hand with his other and settling it on her cold scaly face. "Omega Vhagar. Gevī." Alpha, Beta and Omega were the same in just about every language, just with slight accent differences. Vhagar made a high pitched sound that was loud enough to hurt my ears before sniffing at me once she moved her head to smell me better. "Get used to that. Dragons are always very protective of pregnant Omegas, even when they're not their riders mates, they're sensitive to them. You'll probably be spending a lot of time with her once you are. It's also likely she'll know before we do."
"Really?" He nodded.
"Balerion knew before Aegon and his Omega ever did, that's how they found out. Just don't try to ride her alone, okay?" I stared up at him for several seconds knowing the look on my face explained my thoughts just fine.
"You're funny." My Alpha rolled his eye before pulling me towards the rope ladder on the side of his dragon. "If you need a ladder to get up on something, you should probably stay on the ground." I informed him but he just hoisted me up alongside him with a strength I didn't know my Alpha possessed, though I probably should have.
"Alright, hold on here if you need to-"
"I do. Thank you." I clutched the seat, that was effectively a saddle, with all my strength before Aemond wrapped his arm around me just when Vhagar began to stand up, shaking off and honestly, that was enough of a ride for me as I was thrown side to side, my Alpha just laughing as I squealed.
"I've got you my love. You won't fall, I promise you. Just enjoy." The large dragon took several steps before thrusting herself into the air, her wings catching her massive size in the wind and propelling us upwards, my hands now clutching my Alphas arm. I was probably slicing into his flesh with my nails but enjoying the wind in my hair and letting out an unintentional giggle. "Are you going to lie and say you're not enjoying yourself?" I shook my head , trying to keep my hair from his face but failing.
"You're right! This is incredible!" Something about my Alpha holding me so close as we flew through the sky was a kind of magical feeling that I didn't know existed and I was willing and happy to do it again as long as he held me like this.
The adventure however had to come to an end fairly quickly as we were supposed to meet his family for dinner tonight and I was somehow more nervous about that than the prospect of flying on a giant scaly lizard...
No one can tell me that Targaryens aren't scarier than the beasts they ride...
