Chapter 10: Life's a b*tch

     "Breakfast is ready!!" I yelled loud enough for Carter and Riley to hear me. We had just got up an hour and thirty minutes ago. We all showered and put on clothes so we can go house hunting for me and Riley maybe even Carter.

     I layered they're plates with pancakes, sausages, and Bacon. After they took the plates to the table I fixed us drinks and headed to the dining room where the girls were. "Say grace Riley." I said before bowing my head.

     "God is great, God is good, thank you for this food that we've received to eat this day. Amen." she recited. I gave her a high five and we all started eating. All you heard was forks clinking on plates and chewing. I smiled at my soon to be family and caught eye contact with Carter. She smiled back and we bust out laughing. I ain't even know what was funny but it was funny.

     "Mommy what's fu-." Riley started but was cut off by a knock at the door. I got up to answer it while Riley and Carter went to go clean the kitchen. I looked through the peep hole and there stood a little old Caucasian women with huge glasses on. She had on a business suit, with a clipboard and papers in her hand. I opened the door slowly and just looked at her.

     "Hello I'm Helen McBride. I'm here from the District of Children and Families." she spoke. My heart stopped and I nearly fainted. "Hello I'm H-Harmony Hamilton, please. Come in." I said. She walked in and I invited her into the living room. "Want something to drink?" I asked. "No thank you. I just need to get down to business." she said with an attitude. Fuxking Homophobe. I can tell.

     "Well Ms.Hamilton we received a call from Patricia Porter stating that your daughter has been fighting and screaming in her sleep.. And that when she approached you about it you mentioned being abused and tortured." she explained. That lien bvtch lied! On gawd ima snap on her ugly bird lookin ass.

     "Actually I didn't say anything about torture or abuse. I said we had a rough past but we're away from any dangers." I said frankly. Just as I said that Carter and Riley emerged from the kitchen. I gave Carter a look and she automatically knew what was up. "Hello I'm Janelle Carter." Carter said extending her hand out to the woman. She looked at Carter's hand and scoffed. This bvtch has some nerve!

     Carter rolled her eyes and sat next to me on the couch. Riley came and sat on my lap. "You must be Riley. Hello I'm Ms.McBride." she said with an artificial smile. "Hi." Riley said laying her head on my chest. "Okay well since I have your side may I speak to Riley alone?" the woman asked. I looked at her and wanted to snap her neck. Ain't no way in hell! Riley will crack under pressure. Ughhhh! Why us??

     "Yes sure you can." Carter spoke up for me. I looked at her and she gave me a reassuring look. "Lets go up to your room Riley. Or do you have a room?" the woman asked sarcastically. "Yes she has a damn room. What kind of mother do you think I am?" I snapped. "One that dresses like a man." she retorted. I was about 5 seconds from hitting this bvtch in her mouth. Carter rubbed my hand helping me to calm down.

     "Go upstairs and talk to the nice lady Riley. You don't have to answer anything that you don't want to. You're a big girl." Carter lectured. Riley got off of me and lead the lady upstairs. Everything in me wanted to follow her and see what kind of questions she was gonna ask my baby. If I lose her ima go insane.

     I laid my head back on the couch while Carter stood behind it rubbing my temples. "Carter I can't lose my baby man. She's everything to me. We've been through soo much together I can't help but be sad. That lady can't tale my baby from me she can't. One word would trigger all the pain and grief that Riley has in her heart and they fusho gone take her. What I'm gone do Carter?" I asked her looking up into her beautiful eyes.

     She stopped massaging my temples and came around to sit on my lap. "Everything will be okay. This is just one minor setback for a major comeback. Riley is very intelligent, she don't want you in any trouble so she wont say anything." Carter said kissing my forehead. She looked at me and I can tell she knew I was hurting.

     20 minutes later Riley came running into the living room with tears streaming down her face. Shortly after Ms. McBride came marching into the living room. "She's gonna take me mommy! She said if I don't tell the truth you'd get in trouble! I'm sowwy mommy. I'm sowwy." Riley cried. I jumped up nearly dropping Carter to the floor. "YOU CANT TAKE MY BABY AWAY FROM ME! I GOT HER AWAY FROM THE DANGER!!! GIVE ME CREDIT FOR THAT!!!!!" I screamed.

     The woman just stood there shaking her head. I couldn't help but break down and cry. I really can't take life right now. "You should be in jail for letting a child go through those types of things. You monster!" Ms. McBride yelled back. At that Carter was making her way over to the lady. Screaming and cursing so loud. I held her back as the lady grabbed Riley's hand marching out the door.

     "Mommyyy please don't let her take me!! Please!!!" Riley screamed. "I'm sorry baby! I'm sorry!!!!" I hollered through sobs. I ran over and scooped Riley up in my arms. I hugged her so tight and she returned the squeeze but hers around my neck. I kissed her all over her face. "I love you so much Riley. Be good." I whispered to her. "I love you more Mommy." she said before kissing a falling tear from my face.

     I let Carter hug her next. She whispered something in Rileys ear causing her to giggle. She kissed her cheek and then the lady took her away. I stood there crying and waving with my other hand entwined with Carter's as she waved too. When the car was outta my eyesight I broke down. Carter being right there to catch me and rub my back. Life's A Bvtch.
