"Hey," Jay greeted as he opened the door on time for Averie's arrival at his apartment.
"Hey, how was your day?" she asked, tossing her purse on the island.
"Fine," he responded blandly. "Hey I wanted to ask you something."
"Go for it," she responded turning to face him.
"So um, why do you keep coming over?"
"Sorry?" she furrowed her brows.
"It's just- you've come over after work everyday for the past three weeks. And I've been good, going to therapy, and taking care of my self but you keep checking in," he explained.
"Oh," Averie glanced away, embarrassed. She reached toward her bag. "I don't know- I can go," she started toward the door.
"No that doesn't mean I don't want you here," Jay tried to stop her.
"No, no, really it's fine. You're better. I'm proud of you. And I don't need to keep bothering you anymore. You have your own life," she justified to herself. "I'm not in it anymore." She grabbed onto the doorknob.
"Averie," he whispered, he grabbed onto her wrist. She spun around, his face was inches from her's. "I don't want things to be like that. I don't want you to leave. I don't want to be apart from you."
She sucked in a breath, "Jay," she spoke softly.
"Yeah," he whispered back.
"Kiss me," she said. He slammed his lips to her's. Jay pressed Averie back against the door, her purse falling to the floor and out of her hands as she gripped the sides of his shirt tight in her fists. His hands fell to her hips, his fingertips pressing into her skin.
Jay's hands slid from her hips around her body. He glided his hands down her ass and grabbed onto her thighs, lifting her from the ground. Averie back was pulled away from the door as Jay carried her toward his bedroom. Dropping her onto his bed, Averie sat up, pulling her shirt over her head, leaving her in her bra. Jay took his shirt off too and started to climb on top of her when Averie pressed a finger to his chest, softly pushing him back so she could reach his belt. Softly laughing Jay watched as she easily undid the buckle and whipped the belt from it's loops. Fed up, Jay pushed her shoulders down, pressing her back to the mattress as he places wet kisses down her neck.
He kissed down to her chest and down her stomach until he reached the top of her jeans. Swiftly, he unbuttoned the jeans and slid them off her legs. Taking her in, he leaned back up to kiss her once more.
Pulling away he whispered softly, "You sure?"
"I've never been more sure of anything," she pulled him back down to her lips.

Waking in the morning, Jay's nose was overwhelmed with the familiar scent of Averie's shampoo. A smile growing on his face, he looked down at her head against his chest, her dark hair falling across his chest and down her bare back. Without waking her, Jay gently slipped out from under her. Deciding to make some breakfast, he slipped on some low hanging sweatpants and walked out to the kitchen. He started brewing some coffee and opened the cabinet to pull out the waffle mix. Glancing around the room, he caught sight of Averie's purse lying on the ground, it's contents spilled around the floor. Slowly, Jay made his way over to the mess to try his best as placing everything back in it's spot.
Back in Jay's bedroom, Averie started to wake up. Sighing, she turned her head deeper into the pillow. But catch the familiar but unexpected scent her eyes fluttered open, revealing the bedroom she was in alone. Confused, she pulled on Jay's tossed-aside t-shirt and made her way out into the apartment.
"Jay?" she called out. She found him in the entry way, staring down at something in his hands.
"What's this?" he asked, turning around and holding up a sonogram.
"Jay-" she started to explain.
"You're pregnant?"
"I was going to tell you," she said softly.
"Is it-" he couldn't finish the sentence, worried about the possibility.
"It's yours. Of course it's your baby," she gently smiled. He stared at her, unsure. "Look, I- um- I had been feeling off for a few weeks after we first broke up. So I had Lacey draw my blood secretly and the test confirmed it. And I was trying to figure out how to tell you but I could never seem to catch you at a good time," her speech started to speed up, "So I got so fed up with trying to wait for you to find yourself so that I could tell you so I took it upon myself to make you get better so that you could be your best for the future. So, I'm sorry that I didn't tell you sooner, I couldn't find the right time." Averie took a deep breath once she got all her words out, waiting for a reaction from Jay that never seemed like it was coming. So she whispered, "I was terrified."
"How- how far along are you?"
"A little over three months, kinda past all the sickness."
"We're having a baby," Jay said softly, a smile growing on his face.
"Yeah," Averie nodded, "Yeah we're having a baby."
"Oh my god!" Jay rushed forward, sweeping Averie off her feet and spinning her around as she squealed. "We're gonna be parents!"
"We're gonna be parents!" Averie repeated, holding onto him tightly. He set her on the ground, pressing a kiss to her lips. Breaking apart, they stared at each other smiling. "You- you're not mad at me?"
"Why would I be mad? You didn't do anything wrong. It was me, I screwed everything up. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything. I'm sorry for disapearing and hurting you. And for everything I put you through after. And I'm sorry I wasn't there for you when you found out. Look, I'm just- I'm sorry."
"I know. I know you are. And I'm so done with the apologies. Okay? It's in the past, I've moved on from that. Let's focus on the future. I have an ultrasound scheduled in two weeks, if you wanna go."
"Of course!" He replied instantly.
Averie laughed, "Promise me something."
"Anything."
Averie lifted her pinkie up to him, "Our baby's gonna be awesome."
Jay looked dreamily at her, wrapping his pinkie around her's, "Promise. Without a doubt this kid is gonna be the coolest."
Averie pulled him into a tight hug. "I love you, Jay Halstead," she spoke, muffled in his chest.
Jay pressed a kiss to the top of her head, "I'm so insanely in love with you, Averie Fields."
