SINCE it was Candace's semestral break and Dale already got Candace's parent's approval, he took her for a trip outside the town. It was his gift for her on her birthday. And now seeing Candace's face lit up made his gift worth it.
"Wow, a modern log house." Manghang sabi ni Candace habang nakatingin sa log house na nasa harapan nila.
Ngumiti si Dale saka niyakap ang kasintahan mula sa likuran. "It's yours."
Marahas na napapihit si Candace kay Dale. "Anong ibig mong sabihin?"
"It's yours." Ulit ni Dale habang seryoso ang boses.
Lumaki ang mata ni Candace at itinuro ang log house na nasa harapan nila ni Dale. "For me? For real?"
Tumango si Dale at ngumiti. Nanatiling nakapalibot ang braso niya sa beywang ng kasintahan. Hinalikan niya ito sa nuo. "It's my gift."
Hindi makapaniwala si Candace. "T-thank you but isn't your gift too much?" Patanong niyang saad.
Dale just smiled and stared at his mate. You're my Luna. You deserved more than this.
"Dale?"
Napakurap si Dale. "May sinasabi ka?"
Kumunot ang nuo ni Candace. "Okay ka lang ba?"
Tumango si Dale. "I'm okay." Hinawakan niya ang kamay ni Candace. "Let's check inside."
"Wait."
"What's wrong?"
"Though I was grateful of your gift but why are you giving me a log house as a gift? Not that I'm complaining." Sabi ni Candace ng may pagtataka.
She looked around and found out that the log house was built near the woods and just a few meters away from the log house, there was a river flowing with clean water. It was a scenic place for her. Trees with fresh air.
Kung siya ang papipiliin, mas gusto niyang tumira rito dahil mukhang tahimik at hindi magulo. Not that she's saying na magulo sa bahay nila.
Dale took a deep breath. "Don't think that I'm using this gift to take advantage of you. Well, wala kasi akong maisip na regalo sa 'yo so, I asked my father and told me that what will come in my mind first whatever it is, is my gift for you."
"At ito ang unang pumasok sa isipan mo?" tanong ni Candace.
Tumango si Dale.
Nasapo ni Candace ang ulo saka siya napailing. Hindi niya alam kung ano ang sasabihin niya kay Dale. Tinignan niya ang binata. "Kailan ka huling nagregalo?"
Napaisip naman si Dale. "Uhmm...ten years ago."
Candace blinked at Dale. "No wonder." Aniya. Hinawakan niya ang kamay ni Dale. "Come on. Tour me around."
"Anyway, when did you buy this log house?" Candace asked.
"A month ago."
"Oh."
Dale tour Candace around the log house.
Candace was amazed by the exterior design of the log house. May mga Nakatanim na halaman sa paligid ng log house. There was also a front lawn and small garden of flowers beside the log house.
Entering the log house, she was more amazed by the interior design. There was a living room with set of sofa, dining and kitchen area. There are two bedrooms and entertainment room. The floor and wall are all woods. May nakasabit rin na maliit na chandelier sa kisame.
Umupo si Candace sa sofa. Umupo naman si Dale sa tabi niya. Maya-maya pa ay humiga ito sa sofa at ginawang unan ang hita niya. Ngumiti siya at sinuklay ang buhok ni Dale.
