the seattle grace residents just stared as their home became infested with orange scrubs. bright orange sharks determined to steal their surgeries and take over their hospital.

"orange is an ugly colour" adelaide whispered to lexie, who laughed quietly as she put on her lab coat.

the brunette grabbed a hair tie from her cubby and threw her hair into a ponytail, trying her best to block out whatever was going on around her. but that proved to be a challenge when someone decided to put their things in george o'malley's cubby.

"oh, hey. you can't put that in there" izzie said

"oh, they told us to grab a cubby" the readhead with a pixie cut replied, continuing to put her stuff in the cubby

"yeah, i know. it's just ... we keep it empty for a reason. can you just take your stuff out? there are some empty ones over there you can use"

"i don't think so" the mercy wester replied. adelaide sighed to herself, it really wasn't that big of a deal to just move your stuff to a different cubby

"i don't like her" lexie whispered to her

"she's rude" adelaide agreed

"can you just-" the girl continued to put her stuff in the cubby, "i said take it out" the blonde yelled

"great. i got the crazy one next to me" she remarked snidely to her friend

"oh, you want to fight? cause i will" izzie yelled before alex came rushing in to stop her

adelaide tuned out at that point. she liked george and she believed he didn't deserve to go the way he did but the pair were never that close and though it saddened her, she wasn't massively effected by the event. the youngest sloan continued to get herself ready, grabbing her lab coat and the granola bar she'd brought.

"sister sloan" cristina called from the other side of the locker room "are you coming or are you gonna sit there and let them take your surgeries?"

adelaide grabbed her stethoscope and slung it around her neck, she put the granola bar in her pocket. eating was not her top priority right now - finding an incredible surgery, however, was.

the seattle grace residents, now joined by their mercy west counterparts made their way to the pit. the overflow from mercy west was extreme and the e.r was packed. the group looked around, not really sure where to begin.

"where do you want us?" alex asked

"at this point, anywhere is good" owen replied, not really having an idea himself of how to sort through the chaos that had erupted

at mercy west, we do zones. when it's super busy, we just give everyone a zone, a space. the nurses put a person in that space, you know it's your patient. helps you get to them quicker" the tall one with the green eyes suggested

"yeah, well, this is the e.r - not a schoolyard. we're not playing four square" cristina scoffed

"i like it" owen spoke

"what?" cristina said, sounding astounded

"it's a good idea, let's try it. what's your name?" owen asked

"jackson avery" he replied

"dr. avery, dr. hunt. it's all yours, zone away. let's go"

adelaide looked around, unsure as to what to do. she caught lexie's eye, who looked to be in the same position as her.

"what just happened? did we just get beat by an orange. already" the sloan girl spoke, as if she was unable to comprehend what had just happened

"i think we did" lexie replied
