But the carriage ride was too bumpy and Cersei was making it worse as she tried to cover Sasha's face. Nearly stabbing Sasha in the eye. Sasha didnt make a peep just flinched back slightly.
"We will fix you when we get there. Stay in the carriage until then." Cersei had decided when the king called for formation. Sasha wiped at her face rubbing at the corner of her eye. Mycella smiled back at her. Mycella reached out touching Sasha's hair.
"It's darker since we left." Mycella remarked.
"Less sun, my lannister roots dont get to shine." Sasha offered. Which was fine because around her half siblings and niece and nephews she didnt feel lannister at all.
"My hair didnt get dark though." Mycella corrected.
"Lucky you, so pretty like your mother." Sasha agreed and Cersei smiled proudly as if Mycella's beauty was directly her doing, as if Sasha's parents were hideous and thats why she looked the way she did.
"Stay in the carriage." Cersei instructed as they jolted to a stop.
Ned knew many of the riders as they approached. There came Ser Jaime Lannister with hair as golden as the sun as was the lannister way, and Sandor Clegane with his burned face was hard to see behind the hound mask he wore but his height and broad shoulders he towered over the guards. The tall boy beside him could only be the crown prince, Joffrey, and that stunted little man behind them was surely the Imp, the queens little brother, Tyrion Lannister. Ned had wondered if their half sister would be joining them but he didnt see the mysterious Sasha Lannister.
Yet the huge man at the head of the column, flanked by two knights in the snow-white cloaks of the Kingsguard, seemed almost a stranger to Ned ... until he vaulted off the back of his warhorse with a familiar roar. Robert.
Ned Stark and his family bowed before him on their knees as Robert approached. Robert motion for Ned to stand, Ned rose as did the rest of his family. But Neds gaze stuck on the girl peering out the carriage window trying to get a look at everything from the tiny window. Sasha looked to Ned and quickly hid behind the little curtain in the window. She wasnt supposed to be seen until Cersei fixed her. But when she peered out again, Ned's focus had turned to the king.
'Your Grace,' Ned said tipping his head to Robert, robert nodded for him to rise and gave him a bone-crunching hug.
"Ned! Ah, but it is good to see that frozen face of yours," Robet declared looked him over top to bottom, 'You got fat,' Robert noted but Ned looked down to Roberts stomach both men started laughing before they hugged joyously.
Ned knelt in the snow to kiss the queen's ring, while Robert embraced Catelyn like a long-lost sister. Sasha peered out looking down the row of stark children as they stood at attention.
'Cat' Robert said happily hugging her before fussing with rickon's hair.
'Nine years it has been nine long years, I have not seen you where have you been?' Robert asked
'I've been here guarding the for north for you, your grace.' Ned said obediently.
"Come on out." Tyrion requested holding out a hand for Sasha.
"Cersei told me to stay put." Sasha corrected. "She didnt have to fix me."
"You dont need fixing." Tyrion corrected. Sasha opened her mouth to object but Tyrion climbed into the carriage. "Come on, I promised father an adventure, this is our adventure." Sasha heard Cersei complaining about Robert wanting to go to the crypts.
"Just as soon as they go inside, trust me they have already forgotten about me. Then I can pull my hood up and we can explore." Sasha offered and Tyrion huffed a breath leaning back in the carriage. "Thank you, Tyrion. Honestly, I'm excited but I dont want to anger Cersei our first day here."
"Fuck cersei, I dont care about her, I care about you." Tyrion assured.
Robert had looked at Cersei with distaste, Jaime had taken her quietly by the arm, and she had said no more. They went down to the crypt together, Ned and this king he scarcely recognized. The winding stone steps were narrow. Ned went first with the lantern.
"Find the little beast." Cersei sneered to Jaime when she noticed her younger monster of a brother was not with them. Jaime nodded giving her hand a squeeze before heading off.
"I was starting to think we would never reach Winterfell," Robert complained as they descended. "In the south, the way they talk about my Seven Kingdoms, a man forgets that your part is as big as the other six combined."
"Alright they are gone, come on, time for fun." Tyrion declared. Sasha jumped as Loras poked his head in.
"What are you doing in here?" Loras pondered offering her his hand. "Come on, get ready to party... what did she do to your pretty face?" Sasha wiped her cloak over her cheek again.
"She was trying to fix me." Sasha whispered.
"You dont need fixing."
