"Valjean!" Javert roared.
He began borrowing down the street when he caught sight of Valjean.
Valjean, for his part, was desperately clawing at the convent wall, a mad look in his eyes. When he heard his name, he froze. Turning towards Javert, he came eye to eye with his number one nemesis.
The man who had dogged him from the time of his first prison escape, unrelenting in his search and unforgiving in his conviction.

"Valjean," Javert said again, calming himself. He fixed his upturned hat and set it to rights.
"I've finally found you, and there is no escape now." Valjean glanced around himself.
To his left sat a cart with a long neck attached; to his right, nothing but the long brick road lay before him.
As Javert circled him, an idea came to him. It was a long shot, but it could work. He only wished Javert was a larger mammal.
