𝐈 𝐆𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐒 my boyfriend pressed a sweet kiss to my lips. We had started working in the mall in an ice cream shop named Scoops Ahoy. Our coworker, Robin Buckley, went to our school and is the grade below us and is using it as a summer job.

Steve and I's relationship was going strong and I couldn't be happier. It felt refreshing to be in a healthy relationship after Billy.

I pulled away from the boy when I heard the bell ringing repeatedly. Now, this was either the kids or Lucas' sister Erica who always demanded free samples.

"Hey, your children are here," Robin called out to us from the front. I rolled my eyes at the interruption before following Steve out.

He scoffed in disbelief, "Again? Seriously?"

The kids had been using us to get into movie theatres for free as there was a secret entrance through the back of our store.

I smiled as I motioned for them to follow me, "Come on."

They all chuckled in response out of happiness as I led them to the connecting door, "Thanks, Nim." Max grinned as she passed me. Despite me and Billy not being together anymore, the redhead and I were still close.

My boyfriend rolled his eyes as he came to stand beside me, "I swear if anybody hears about this-" He called out.

"We're dead." They all spoke in unison, cutting him off.

I giggled at their antics, pressing my lips to the brunette in a deep kiss before making my way back to the front of the store.

𝐈 𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇𝐄𝐃 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 beside Robin as my boyfriend tried to score a date with another girl. The Buckley was convinced that he had lost his game and Steve was determined to prove that he still had it.

I sighed as I watched my boyfriend smile at the two girls before him, "Alright. That's one scoop of chocolate. That's a buck twenty-five. Anything else?" He spoke politely. The girl didn't reply as he eased back to the previous conversation, "You know, I think I need some real-life experience before I hit college, see what it feels like." The machine began beeping really loud and I mentally cringed, "I'm sorry."

The dark-skinned girl nodded along, "Totally."

"You know, we should hang out this weekend or-" He cut himself off as he dropped the change to the floor. I couldn't contain my laughter as I pressed my face into my arms, "Next weekend?" He continued.

The girl hummed, "I'm busy."

Steve nodded along, "Oh, well, I'm working here next weekend." He tried to save, "So the following weekends better for me."

"No. I'm sorry, I can't." She denied before walking away with her friend giggling.

My laughter progressively got louder as they left, Robin pulling out her whiteboard of a tally on how many times Steve failed, "And another one bites the dust." She mocked, "You are, oh-for-six, Popeye."

The Harrington rolled his eyes, "I can count."

"You know that means you suck." The girl giggled.

"I can read too." He shot back, "It's this stupid hat. It's totally blowing my best feature." He tried to justify. I laughed, walking to the front and wrapping my arms around his neck, "Jealous?"

"No," I replied, "I'm better than all these girls."

The boy hummed in response as he leaned down to connect our lips. I quickly reciprocated until I heard a groan escape Robins's lips, "You two make me sick." She complained. I sent her a smirk before pressing my lips back to his.

𝐃𝐔𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄 and Steve and I couldn't be more thrilled. He had been away at summer camp and had just arrived back.

My boyfriend and I sat beside him in a booth with the Harrington boy's arm slung across my shoulders. The boy chuckled in response after the Henderson finished telling us about this girl he met, "No way. Hotter than Phoebe Cates?"

The curly-haired boy hummed in response, "She's brilliant. And she doesn't even care that my real pearls are still coming in. She said kissing is better without teeth."

I giggled as Steve immediately stammered over his words, "That's- Yeah- Proud of you, man. That's kind of romantic."

He took another bite of the ice cream he had laid in front of him, "Do you really just get to eat as much of this as you want?"

"Not me," I spoke up.

The brunette boy hummed in response, "Yeah, I've gotta stay fit for my girl."

"And how's that working out for you?" Robin called out, sarcasm laced in her tone as she passed our table.

He rolled his eyes, "Ignore her."

Dustin smiled, "She seems cool."

"She's not." Steve immediately replied.

I scoffed in disbelief, "I love Robin."

He rolled his eyes, "Of course, you do." His eyes drifted to the younger boy, "So, where are the other knuckleheads?"

He sighed heavily, "They ditched me yesterday."

I frowned, "What?"

He nodded, "My first day back. Can you believe that shit?"

"Seriously?" Steve yelled in surprise.

His eyes suddenly widened as a light bulb went off in his mind, "They're gonna regret it, though, big time, when they don't get to share in my glory."

"Glory?" He frowned, "What glory?"

He leaned closer to us so he could whisper, "So, last night I was trying to get in contact with Suzie..." He trailed off as he began to whisper under his breath that I nor Steve could understand.

I frowned, "What?"

He covered his mouth with the palm of his hand as he spoke again but we still couldn't hear.

"Speak up," I told him.

"I intercepted a secret Russian communication." The boy suddenly yelled, his patience wearing thin. His words caught the attention of everyone in the store, causing me to mentally cringe.

The Harrington nodded, "That's what I thought you said."

I frowned, "What does that mean?"

"It means that we could be heroes." He grinned, "True American heroes."

"What's the catch?" He asked.

"No catch, I just need your help." He replied.

I frowned, "With what?"

The boy smiled, reaching into his bag and pulling out a Russian-English book, "Translation."
