Kazuma left his room in the morning. He smiled at his sword, which he still had to name. Megumin exited about two hours later, but Kazuma was already eating breakfast. He had a weird dream where he was running from a guy named Kent Aykitt-Enimore. It really bothered him, and he couldn't fall back asleep. He decided to wait for Megumin before taking a hard quest, as he wanted to make sure that they both agreed on one quest.
"Good morning," Kazuma greeted.
"Morning," Megumin returned. "I want to take a quest already! Hurry up!"
"Alright," Kazuma sighed, finishing his food. The two walked up to the job board, looking for a quest.
"By the way, I'll be useless in dungeons," Megumin commented, seeing Kazuma staring at a quest for adventurers to explore a dungeon.
"I know. I'm just trying to get you to level 20 at least so we can leave Axel and head over to the next town," Kazuma said.
"Why couldn't we go now?" Megumin asked.
"If we did, it'd be a losing game. You'd die instantly," Kazuma said.
"What's that supposed to mean???" Megumin asked indignantly. "I have explosion magic! Nothing can best me in pure power!"
"What if we run into a dragon?" Kazuma asked. Megumin immediately got silent, seeing his point.
"Point taken... What quest should we take?" Megumin asked.
"Let's take one that'll boost our synergy together," Kazuma said.
"How about eliminating a frog colony in the forest just out of town? It gives 500000 Eris if we can bring the head of the colony's dominant male, indicated by a blue arrow going from its forehead down to its mid back," Megumin said. "I'll one-shot the whole colony with my explosion!"
"Sure. Let's make a plan, then execute," Kazuma responded, deciding to agree to the quest.
"Ok! We better be able to use my explosion magic!" Megumin exclaimed.
"Alright. Here's the plan. I'll charge in first, making sure the coast is clear. I'll clear the way if any frogs challenge us and you finish off the head male with your explosion," Kazuma said.
"Okay! Let's go already then! I can't wait to explode all over them!" Megumin exclaimed.
"Phrasing..." Kazuma muttered, exasperated.
"What?" Megumin asked innocently. Kazuma shook his head, sighing.
"Never mind," he responded, drawing his sword. "You ready to get going?"
"Yup!"
A little while later, the two had reached the plains outside of Axel, Kazuma's sword in its sheath due to villagers being concerned at it when he walked by, despite one hand being occupied dragging a giant cart behind them for the goods when they returned. Megumin got to keep her staff out, though. Suddenly, six frogs came from nowhere, a lot bigger than before. Megumin began to chant, but Kazuma held a finger over her mouth.
"Hey!" Megumin yelled. "What's the big idea?!"
"Don't do that," Kazuma responded. "We need your explosion for the head male. Let me do the work."
"Fine," Megumin responded, puffing her cheeks. Kazuma drew his sword, sighing.
"I'm sorry, but I'm glad you know why," Kazuma said. Megumin smiled, enjoying his attempt to comfort her.
"Okay, but I'm exploding them if you start losing, so fall back when that happens," Megumin called. Kazuma nodded.
"Right. Now, Ritual Slash!" He yelled, dashing through two frogs easily. He turned, switching stances. "Fury blade."
