Chapter 9

"I'm off mom."

"Alright Hoon, stay safe." Jihoon's mother said as she placed a kiss on her son's head. "Mom~" Jihoon whined as he fixed his bag to rest comfortably on his shoulder. "Let me love my son without you complaining." Ms. Lee sassed before letting Jihoon off.

He shook his head at his mother's shenanigans as he plugged in his headphones, listening to his favorite songs on his walk to the vinyl store. I know what you're thinking, vinyl store? Why would anyone go to a vinyl store these days?

Well you see here, Jihoon looks for inspiration from music back in the day and plus, what else would he use to spin? So on his merry way he went, listening to 'Just The Way You Are' by Bruno Mars. He happily opened the doors to his favorite store on the block and began his search, humming to the tunes blasting in his ears as he looked for the perfect vinyls he can spin.

While reaching for a vinyl, another person seem to have been grabbing it and out of certain places of events, their hands touched. Jihoon pulled his hand back and looked up towards the person who also wanted the vinyl.

"Soonyoung?"

"Jihoon?"

"What are you doing here?" Jihoon asked, genuinely surprised to see the other here as the older didn't seem like the type to go to vinyl stores. He took out his headphones so he could hear the other better. "Looking for vinyls. What are you doing here?" Soonyoung stupidly asked, still too stunned to speak. "Oh boy, I wonder." Jihoon replied with sarcasm as he placed his hands on his hips with a 'are you being for real' expression.

Soonyoung awkwardly laughed as he looked around. "So......you like SWV too, huh?" Soonyoung asked as he grabbed the vinyl they were reaching for before. "I love them!! They are my idols, that's my favorite album." Jihoon exclaimed happily with a bright smile as he pointed to the vinyl in the older's hands.

"It's an amazing album for sure!" Soonyoung said as he fidgeted with the vinyl in his hands. "Oh! Then if you mix it with Soul For Real's album—the one that has Candy Rain on it—it'll sound like heaven. Especially if you mix Weak and Candy Rain together." Jihoon explained as he grabbed the mention album and looking at it.

"You Dj?" Soonyoung asked curiously as he looked at the shorter with a look that Jihoon couldn't put a name to it. "Yea....wanna hear?" Jihoon asked as he gestured to the Dj booth behind him. "Yea, sure!" Soonyoung said with a smile as they head over to the booth. "Alright...put these on." Jihoon said as he placed headphones on Soonyoung's head then placing some on his head.

He put the two records on the disk board before he got to work. A huge smile grew on Soonyoung's face as he bopped his head to the beat. "Jihoon this is great. When did you learn how to spin?" Soonyoung asked, taking the headphones off and turning to the younger.

"My cousin taught me, he's an amazing producer." Jihoon replied as he took off his headphones and started putting the records in their holders. "That's cool, so like he makes music for famous artists and stuff like that?" Soonyoung asked, genuinely wanting to know. "Yea, he also does teaching on the side, he's the music teacher." Jihoon said leading the two out of the booth.

"What!?" Soonyoung was flabbergasted, "Mr. Min makes music for famous artists!" Jihoon hummed with a nod as he put the Soul For Real's album back and handed Soonyoung the SWV album with a smile. "He doesn't like telling people though, you're actually the first student to know that he does." Jihoon said stuffing his hands into his pockets.

Soonyoung held the album in his hands firmly at that statement. Knowing Soonyoung, he can burst any moment if he was under a lot of pressure. "You can't tell anyone. I'm trusting you and you should be lucky that I'm trusting you, I rarely trust people." Jihoon said with a serious voice and a stern look.

Soonyoung gulped and nodded as sweat beams began to spill. "I gotta go now, see ya Soonyoung." Jihoon said looking at his watch and waving goodbye and walking away. "What about the vinyl?" Soonyoung called out, holding up said vinyl. "Keep it, im sure my cousin has a few copies laying around somewhere in his house." Jihoon answered before leaving with a smile that melted Soonyoung's heart.

"Hey Hoon, you're back early. Didn't find any vinyls that you needed." Ms. Lee asked as she saw her son make his way over to the dinning table. "Not exactly. found two, but someone else needed them...." Jihoon said trailing off as his mind wandered off back to his unexpected meet up with Soonyoung at the vinyl store, a dreamy smile spread across his face.

"Ooooo! Who is this lucky someone?" Ms. Lee asked as she made her way over to the table to sit with her son, a cup of tea in her hand. "It's no one mom...." Jihoon said, waving his mom off as he leaned back in his chair.

"Lying to your mother is a sin." Ms. Lee said jokingly, making Jihoon laugh, "fine!~ his name is Soonyoung, met him in a dance practice room at school. It felt like a fairytale dancing and singing with him, mom. Saw him again today at the vinyl store, seems like I'm not the only teen who collects vinyls these days." Jihoon explained to his mother with a lovesick smile.

"Awe!~ my little Hoonie is in love!" Ms. Lee exclaimed as she tickled her son's stomach. "Mom stop it!" Jihoon exclaimed through giggles as he tried to stop his mother from tickling him.

"Okay okay, I'm happy for you though, Hoon. If he is making you feel this way, I say go for it." Ms. Lee said as she got up from the table, placing a light kiss on Jihoon's head before walking away. Jihoon sighed as he laid across the table with a bright smile. "Maybe you're right mom, I'll go for it!" Jihoon said to himself as he began kicking his feet and squealing happily.
