Building A Companionship

🍁☂️

The walk was just as silent as the sounds of nightfall made it to be. The ocean's view was clear without the disturbances of people as they tread along the cold sand shore near Liyue Harbour.

"You can see Guyun Stone Forest from here," Kazuha broke the silence and pointed off to the land formations over the water nearby. He glanced at the man, searching for some sort of response or reaction, but there was none.

They continued onward in silence until they stood at an opening of shore and sea, the waves rolling in and out at a mesmerizing pace. There was a taste of ocean salt in the air and a gentle scene of blue shadows with the moon's dim light.

The wanderer was silent as he looked up at the stars, wondering if he'll ever be found out. The empty spacing of air and sea filled his head with thoughts and worries, soon overpowering him. While the scenery was peaceful and vacant of ruly people, it was easy to get sand in his shoes and mud on his socks; he hated even the idea of it. He could lose his cool and accidentally drop this facade of 'gentle kindness', as his mother had put it, and get found out.

Kazuha led the way until he paused and stood to look around. "How does this do? I can help set the camp up, though I must admit I'm not very good at it."

He smiled and turned to the Inazuman, trying to see past the veil in the other's eyes. Whatever the Inazuman wanted to hide his identity from and to run away, he wondered if he would be able to know the full story. He didn't mind travelling with someone with great secrets, but Kazuha could already feel a connection.

The other stopped behind him, looking around before nodding and smiling, "This is perfect."

"The ground is flat and has sand, we can put a stick in it for stability!" the ??? said clapping his hands with a small smile, immediately rushing over to snatch things to make a tent.

Kazuha couldn't tell if Wanderer was genuine with his demeanour, which made him want to know more about him.

After they began building the tent up, Kazuha found himself having a hard time keeping one end of the tent up. He struggled for a good few minutes until the other spoke.

As the veiled man grabbed stray sticks and cloth from a worn-down camp, he began building the tent, looking over to Kazuha, giggling, "You need help?'"

Kazuha nodded, a little embarrassed, "If you don't mind..."

"Alrighty!" the other stands up from squatting, walking over to Kazuha to help him out.

"What you do you take the stick, dig the deepest hole you can do, put the stick in and then fill the hole with sand, add rocks around it and boom stable stick for a tent!" he said as he continued he stood again to head to his area again. He started to gather more materials, finding thrown-out fabric, a small smile forming.

Kazuha listened the whole way through, except he was very focused on capturing a glimpse of Wanderer's eyes. He wondered what colour eyes the other had for them to be hidden beneath a veil.

After the other was done explaining, he did as he was taught without a hitch. He stood and dusted the sand from his hands to glance over to the other. It seemed that the Inazuman had prepared for an escape like this, but what was he running from?

"What's next?" he approached the other and looked at their progress so far. Even if only one of them seemed experienced in building tents, the shelter it would provide would be much better than a tree's shade.

"Hm? I did find old fabric, this could be of use. Wanna help me out with it?" ??? asked, handing him a large piece of fabric to use as the roof of the tent, giving him a small smile.
