"Okay if you're going to be living with me, you're going to need to give me some answers," Alpine told me as we walked towards the forest. " Okay go for it," I replied. " Why was the Fang pack chasing you?" he asked. "Well... um... heh... that's a... uh... funny story actually," I said. "So I'm the alpha's sister, and he wants me to join him. and if I don't, then he's going to want me dead." he looked at me judgingly. " O-of course I would never join him!" I quickly said. " So let me get this straight. You are the sister of the most powerful wolf in all of Crystone Valley, and he wants to kill you?" He said in a tone that made me question why I thought telling him was a good idea. He took a deep breath. I could see regret in his eyes. "Well, if we're going to not get killed then we better start moving!" he said as he trotted away, his big paws booming on the ground.

" You know how to hunt right?" he asked. "Of course I do! A little!" He face palmed. "How did you survive up to this point?" he said. "Well I usually just scavenged the scraps of food other animals leave behind." he sighed. " Welp, I better start training you." he said looking away. "What?" he said as he gestured me towards the forest. " So first thing you have to do is scent out the prey." "Duh," I said sarcastically. He just rolled his eyes. We started sniffing the ground to try to find something to eat, and soon we smelled a deer. We tracked it until it came into view. It was a rather large deer. Bigger than anything I had ever seen, although looking at Alpine's expression, it looked as if he's seen bigger. He whispered "Now, next step, crouch really low." as he bent down. I followed soon after. " And then you have to get as close to your target as you can slowly." He said as he started crawling towards the deer. What surprised me was that the huge wolf who was just stomping loudly across the forest had become so quiet. Even with my sensitive ears, I couldn't hear him at all. After staring in awe at him for a few seconds, I snapped out of my trance and followed him. "And now..... POUNCE!" He said as he lunged at the deer, biting its neck. I jumped on the deer biting its stomach, making it fall over. It only took one swoop of Alpine's claws to the head to kill it.

We had dinner. "Wow! this is the biggest meal I've ever had!" I sort of lied as I remembered the feasts I used to have at the pack, but it is the biggest I've had since the catastrophe. I  immediately started digging into the food. "Now that was the best food I've had for a while!" I said as I sat down under a tree. "You looked like you haven't eaten in weeks," Alpine said sarcastically. I looked at the ground awkwardly. "Oh wow." He sounded genuinely surprised. "Life has treated you rough, hasn't it," He asked, his voice low. I just nodded sadly. "Well life hasn't been the best on me either," he said as he lifted some of his fur to show scars on his side. "But if there's one thing I know, it's that you just have to push through the hard times. It has to get worse before it gets better." Alpine said. I smiled at him.
