I was left waiting for a reply,
But it never arrived, no matter how I tried.

I longed for words of affirmation,
Only to realize it was a delusion.

I hoped for reciprocity,
But it turned out to be a comicality.

Could it get any crazier than this,
Caught in a web of unfulfilled bliss?

You enticed me with your charming words,
And I naively believed you were my world,
My knight in shining armor, my guiding light,
Yet the truth revealed itself with time's insight.

I poured my love into you relentlessly,
Endlessly praising your worth, so fervently.

The habit of exalting you grew too strong,
Blinding me to the fact that I also belong.

Once again, I became overly attached,
While you reveled in changing and mismatched.

You waited patiently until I stumbled and fell,
Only then realizing there was no one to catch, no one to dispel.
How amusing it must have been for you to deceive,
To trap a fly by calling it a butterfly, I now perceive.

I should have known a lover reveals their muse,
While those who lack love make excuses to use.

If even the tiniest love from you had shown,
I wouldn't be the one constantly reaching out alone.
Months passed, waiting for your reply,
I wouldn't have been the sole one making time fly.

I should have recognized you weren't my gentle dove,
But rather someone devoid of love.

In the absence of emotion, I thought I kept it healing,
But the truth remains, it was merely concealing.
