I let out a deep breath hoping Nalani would keep her word "ok you can bring him over"

Nalani was my older sister my only sibling and carter was my nephew she had carter at 19 now she's 23 with a 4 year old she's a great mother she loves carter dearly but for the past year she's been slacking
She had carter young so she had to give up her freedom to tend to him which she did great at but recently she's been dropping carter off and going ghosts for days at a time just so she could party with girls my age
I understand she hasn't been able to do much but disappearing and not even calling to check on your son is crazy I watch carter because I don't want her to send him to his dead beat daddy family and I feel he's safest with me our mom was outta the picture because Nalani got pregnant right after high school and our mom kicked her out
Our mom and her relationship was toxic Nalani won't even let our mom see carter so I choose not to get in they drama but that's enough of that
I got up off my couch and went in my kitchen looking for something to eat I looked multiple times seeing no change so I sighed deeply because it was already 8 at night and I was gonna have to go get some food
A consistent knocking at my door pulled me out of my thoughts and I went and opened the door

"He has clothes in his bag,toothbrush, soap everythings in there but he has to brush his teeth don't forget"nalani said giving me his bag and bending to his level "I know girl I haven't forgot"
"Mommy loves you okay baby you be good while you here"she said kissing carters forehead "love you mommy" "ok I'll text you love you sister"nalani said walking out
"You got a happy meal"i said closing and locking the door behind her
"Yes I got nuggets!"carter said all excited "ok go sit on the couch and eat I'll turn on something for you to watch in a second" "ok"he said and took of running to the couch "take yo shoes off carter"
