Raiven was very odd to him, he observes her a lot and by looking at her she seems so fun, bubbly and nice but when they started hanging out he noticed how quiet she be and whenever she does speak she's mostly mumbling like she doesn't want to talk or something, he also noticed that she disassociated a lot and would often just be there stuck in her mind
He knows there's something wrong and he so badly wants to know what caused her to be like that, yes her brother was murdered but he feels as though that wasn't the only situation that caused her to seem so lost

they were sitting in his car and eating their blizzards from Dairy Queen and he watched her do a little dance as she ate her ice cream and he loved it, Kentrell is a big lover boy people around him just don't know it

"yeah it reminds me of Ray.. he used to always take me to Dairy Queen whenever he noticed that there was something wrong with me, you two even order the same blizzard" she answered

"yeah he was the best older brother, can't believe he's gone.. ion think i wanna believe it" she responded
"yeah my momo is dying on us, even though i kno' she ain't gon be around in the next few months and that's terrifying, she raised me because my momma didn't give a fuck until two years ago, so my momo is my heart and it's scary knowin' she gon die soon" he explained to her
"your momo ?! your grandmother ?!" she asked him
"yeah ha name is Alinda, you ca' meet ha one day befo' she gone" he answered and she smiled and nodded

Everytime they hang out and get closer to one another his feelings for her grow, he doesn't know why he just knows that he likes her, he wants her. Raiven on the other hand is unaware that her feelings for him are growing also, she tries to convince herself that she only finds him attractive but deep down she knows that she's starting to like him and she's afraid

"my older brother Raymond was also like my best friend, he taught me a lot that my parents wouldn't. like fighting, my parents never paid attention to me to teach me how to defend myself so he did, he always got me out of the house because he knows i have issues with my mom, he'd always tell me that she didn't hate me and that it was tough love and i believed him until he died and she got worse, i had to watch him die and that really affected me, i have nightmares about that night and i will always protect my little sister from anything because i couldn't protect my brother, felt like it was my fault for not helping him, i would've rather it been me that died because Raymond had the brightest future, he left the streets after he graduated highschool and went to college to become a surgeon, hate that his life ended early" she explained to him and he frowned hearing her blame herself
