She's tangled up in his sheets, tangled up in her thoughts,

Her regrets

Klaus's threats lingering in her mind

The other man seems to be peacefully asleep

She ignores the eight missed calls from Klaus,
She gets distracted anyways when Marcel pulls her in for a kiss

And she doesn't realize her rose colored glasses are blinding her to the veracity of her circumstances

_________

He gorges himself on alcohol as a distraction from his frenzy of rage

Did she take him for a fool?

Did she really think that he wouldn't savvy what she's been up to with his former protégé?

He kept everything off the record because he wanted her to come clean, to hear the full truth from her directly,

And maybe because a small part of him he'd never acknowledge yearned for an explanation, for an excuse that would be enough to tame his wrath

Perhaps it's also because he didn't have it in him to kill her for her transgression

But betraying him with the enemy wasn't the worst of her peccadilloes

No, the worst of them was making him so obsessively in Love with her

Another missed call before the phone crashed against the wall

He walked to and fro across the room, riddled with dolor

He may not wish to see her dead, but he will make her pay somehow

She will rue the day she ever decided to betray him,he promised himself

_________

Marcel smiled at the sight of Hayley wearing his shirt

She handed him a cup of coffee but he refused it helping himself instead to a glass of bourbon

"A bit early in the morning for that don't you think"

He placed the now empty glass on the table with a dramatically loud thud

"Old habits die hard, plus I'm immortal there's nothing to worry about"

...

" Your phone's been blowing up"

She almost chokes on her coffee before she puts it down

"A certain someone can't take a hint"

He laughs at that,

"I noticed your arm is all bruised"

The pity in his voice makes her uneasy so she tries to brush the topic off

"It's nothing really, i kinda caught him in a bad mood"

He looked at her as if she was deranged

"And you really think that makes it acceptable ?"

She doesn't answer and her reticence says enough so he nods, his hands clenching

"I hope you'll be pleased to know that you'll soon be free to choose your own path"

She can't help the dreadful feeling in the pit of her stomach

Now that it feels all too real, it became twice as eerie

"And when is that exactly?"

"The full moon is three days away, by then Davina will be set and ready to finally rid the world of him"

She tried to smile, maybe then she can fool herself into thinking losing him forever doesn't make her blood run cold

"What's so special about this specific full moon anyway?"

His eyes move from her bruised arm to meet her hazel ones

"It'll be the witches strongest hour, they'll be granted an unlimited direct access to the ancestral realm, add to that the fact that Davina's a harvest girl and you have the perfect combo to kill the unkillable
Klaus Mikaelson"

She swallowed, still struggling to take it all in

"Why do I get the sense there's something you're not telling me"

He shot her a smile, an amused one

"It involves the use of ancient black magic, it's not exactly money for old rope but i have faith in Davina and so should you, Klaus is at his weakest during his transition to wolf form, which she can force out of him"

She reached out for his Marlboro vintage pack before lighting a cigarette

"You said I'll be the bait, what makes you think he cares that much"

He strolled towards her and stole the cigarette from her hand, taking a puff

"Without a shadow of doubt he will, I've been keeping tabs on your little romance and i know for sure he'll race to your rescue"

She feels netted, but for the moment she allows the cigarette to abate her fright

______

She ignores the revolting smell of burnt corpses

"I have something to tell you"

His frantic burst of laughter ringing in her ears
